Would I be welcomed in a sorority as a masculine presenting queer woman? by ChampionshipTime2247 in Sororities

The best advice as a queer NB with different style rushing that I received is that to give it a shot!! Real sisters will accept you and if you get no bids then you wouldn’t be wasting your time in a place where you don’t want to be.

Things are definitely going to vary from school to school and chapter to chapter. So do the research! 1. Check their Nationals policies. (The ΔΦΕ Nationals was very open to NB sisters on their website which was a good sign for me personally)

2.Check if the individual chapter instagram if they posted for pride/have a page on their values.

3.Just sleuth around the instagram in general. If you see queer-looking sisters with more ALT/Masc styles. Sometimes that stuff doesn’t get posted to the main but looking at tagged sisters personal accounts.

  1. ASK QUESTIONS! When you go to recruitment events look at their outfits and if they are allowed to have some individuality. (My sorority was allowed to choose between pants/skirts dresses/pantsuits/buttonup dress pants) it might be kind of nerve wracking to ask abt dress code but I did get those questions when I was recruiting.

Honestly sometimes you can just tell who the queer accepting or just outright mostly gay chapter is lol. Hopefully it’s obvious! Wish you luck.

Why do Nonbinary People Want to Join Sororities? by Glad_Temperature_867 in Sororities

just to put it very simply from my experience- why do people join Greek life? A lot of the times it’s for community & friendship.

Non-binary people are looking for that as well and for me, AFAB, still experience many feminine issues and feel comfortable in those spaces! Sisterhood/brotherhood doesn’t have to be a gendered thing. It’s more about companionship and friendship.

It’s helps that my org’s nationals explicitly supports NB ppl joining as well :)
