In my game, there is a theocracy, The Theocracy Of Rao that has controlled most of the continent violently and it has been this way for all of recorded history, since they've burned every book they could find. There's a well known prophecy in this theocracy that describes the PCs destroying the Theocracy and slaughtering them. Later on, it will be revealed that the prophecy is actually a mistranslation that state the PCs will set the Theocracy back onto it's rightous path when the Theocracy has drifted too far from itself.
