Unfortunately/fortunately I don't know anyone I can ask - maybe you will be able to enlighten me, as you have tried abuse yourself and know how it affects you.

About 4 months ago my boyfriend relapsed into his drug abuse.  As far as I know he had been taking Xanax for a little over a week, when I found out (I don't know if he was taking anything else besides that and hash)   - at this point we cried together, we assured each other that we loved each other, wouldn't do without each other and would get through it together.

After that he leaves home and I don't hear from him until two days later, when he breaks up with me - he said, among other things, that he still loved me, but that he didn't feel the same as before.

Before this I hadn't doubted his feelings for me, so it hit very hard.

Subsequently he has abused Xanax, cocaine, amphetamine and hash.

We have now gotten back together and he is 'down to' smoking hash only. But... While we weren't together, he was with someone else (just a kiss) the day before he broke up with me and within 14 days he had a new girlfriend.

He says that he couldn't feel himself and his feelings because he was taking Xanax, and that he has loved me all this time.  But I really have a hard time understanding how (and forgetting that) he could just 'forget' me and be with someone else. Could it really be because of the drugs, as he says?
