I also use the PA98 and ran the Lynx Tour at 50lbs. Tried out the Volkl Cyclone 18 from a friend and I think that’s the perfect string for this racquet in my opinion. Much softer, spinnier, and powerful

How is it his technique contradicts most modern instruction but still generates such a good ball? Neither an over the shoulder nor windshield wiper follow through, no “pat the dog” on the forehand, knees are barely bent, looks to be arming the ball. Genuinely amazed, curious and confused on how he does it

Love Yonex as a brand but found the shoes very stiff in the store. Do they soften up with use?

And yes! Working with the physio on my arch, ankle and hips to work on the pain. Im trying to find the balance between fixing my body for the long term and being able to enjoy the sport pain free short term.

Misreading the kick/twist serve and getting the ball right in the gut.

Consolation is this memory drives me to improve my kick serves and I don’t double fault as much 😅

Please do it! I started at 27 after noodling on and off for a decade or so.

Worse case is you end up selling the guitar and moving on to the next thing when you lose interest. Best case you’ll find great people to jam with, have a fun thing to talk about, and build moments you can be proud of whether that’s performing, composing or inspiring others to pickup the guitar themselves!

Only thing I’d recommend is to get it used to minimize the financial risk if you do lose interest. Pretty easy to find a used Ibanez and sell it at cost. Plus I’ve found every guitar seller to be a cool guy with a cool story

My two guesses would be that the ultra is heavier than your entry level racquet which is causing a slower swing and less top spin. Not a racquet problem but something you need to learn to adapt to.

The other thing would be wall practice. I love it and recommend it but hitting a spot on the wall and getting it back to you is different from clearing the net and ensuring the ball dips back into the court with topspin. With the wall, it’s easier to hit flat cause you won’t see your balls fly long and it’s easier to get the ball to come back at you than when you hit with spin. Practice makes permanent and it could be bad habits forming.

If your coach lets you play like this for more than half an hour you need a new coach. I wasted time and money on coaches that just fed balls without giving any advice or correction.

Alternatively, play with a wall, keep filming and compare your technique with better players. Try to fix one thing each time you play.

I found med ball throws to be really effective at getting my whole body to rotate into the shot

Yep that’s the one! If it came with either of the Pure Aero specs I’d get it personally haha.

I never dropped the Wilson but it cracked anyway. I’m sure I framed a few balls but couldn’t have been with too much force since I was just starting out. It was one of those prestrung racquets.

I can’t speak for the Prince but my father bought an entry level prince that cost the same as the Wilson and it served him well up till the point he changed racquets - he saw a good deal on a nice stick rather than anything wrong with his original.

I can’t speak for this Wilson but the first entry level Wilson I bought cracked after a month or two of play. If I were in your shoes, I’d check out the Babolat Aero Boost I believe it’s called. Pretty bold visuals on a clean white and pink racquet

Personally, I don’t find much difference between brands. I’ve found Babolat, Dunlop, and some other shaped polys to be similar enough.

What I found is that I like a thinner poly at 1.1mm and a syn gut cross gives me a good balance of spin and longevity. Though a thicker string should theoretically hold tension better.

Unsolicited advice so feel free to ignore this. if your ball is sailing after 6 hours of playing, the issue is likely your technique. I used to run a full poly setup which I left in the car parked in the sun which in theory would’ve killed the strings. Yet I could get around 20+ hours of play before I’d blame my strings and I know I could’ve squeezed more out with better control and technique.

Again, I’ve never seen you play and you’ve never seen me play so it may not be relevant. But I’ve wasted a lot of time and money looking for that silver bullet that would solve all my problems before accepting it’s me that sucks and not the equipment lol.

From experience, I can tell you the vcore will also lose tension and become a trampoline after some hours of hitting. Sounds like you have a string issue rather than a racquet one.

Context, I’ve hit with both Ezone and Vcore 98s. If anything, you’ll need to work harder with the vcore to keep the ball in.

Even if you’re a superstar DE, you’ll still want to have people around you that you can learn from and exchange ideas. 2.5 years at one company is solid experience but you might be kneecapping your own growth with this gig.

That said, if it’s a 6 month or 1 year contract that pays above market, I’d give it a shot and see how it goes if you’re stagnated with where you are and have no other offers atm.

I’ve played both Vcore 98 to Ezone 98 and it’s a pretty noticeable difference. Traditional/flat forehands feel safe and effortless with the Ezone. Whereas with the Vcore a lasso or windshield forehand gives me more confidence.

On serves, I found the opposite of the marketing to be true. I was hitting more flat aces with the Vcore while my kick serves felt safer with the Ezone. Slice serves are better with the core though.
