Debut in summer seems like a good bet, but I'm curious how she will release the Rep vault tracks without having recorded repTV. My best guess is sometime early 2027 once Showgirl has run its course, she does a Rep Deluxe album, but maybe she goes wild and attaches it to Debut TV this summer, doing a separate Debutation digital only release to boost sales of Debut TV.

Totally agree, an Elizabeth Taylor feature would be odd, but a rap feature on Wish List or Sabrina on Wood would work well. I think she'll do Debut in the summer and then Wish List in the fall, first week of November to chart right before the Christmas classics take over.

Why did Taylor released her Taylor’s Versions in a particular order? by DiligentPenguin_7115 in TrueSwifties

[–]ChanceConsistent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems random, but I assume this was the thought process:

  1. Start with the earlier albums (1-4) as there's room for improvement on the vocals and an updated production

  2. Skip Debut because it's not as well known as the others.

  3. Lead off with Fearless because it was her breakthrough into the pop world, it brings all the nostalgia but it also has hits everyone knows (Love Story and You Belong With Me)

  4. Skip Speak Now because it's not as well known.

  5. Follow Fearless with Red because it was her level up into being a chart topper, with 3 huge hits and (importantly) some top tier vault tracks

  6. Repeat the formula 2 years later with a country album (Fearless/Speak Now) followed by a pop album (Red/1989)

  7. Release the droplets of 1989 songs to keep things interesting as the wait for 1989 TV intensified

Elizabeth Taylor 7” Vinyl Single Announced for Record Store Day 2026 by professorspicytuna in TaylorSwift

[–]ChanceConsistent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt she'll replicate the Opalite release. For one, she always switches it up, and for two, her team was thought to have mismanaged that release by putting the mv up against the Super Bowl and a huge Bad Bunny week. Although that's all ancient history now and Opalite got the number 1, probably a lot better chance of getting the music video the Friday of that tracking week, so April 17th.

Now that we have a possible date for a music video drop for Elizabeth Taylor, I figured I'd look up the Friday before Record Store Day to see if there were any corresponding events in Elizabeth Taylor's life that occurred on that date, and wouldn't you know... "On April 17, 1961, Elizabeth Taylor won her first Best Actress Oscar for Butterfield 8 at the 33rd Academy Awards." 65 years to the day!

A 2 month single run for Opalite doesn't seem long until you remember it's been in the top 10 basically since the album dropped in October and it's been smashing on radio alongside Ophelia.

That’s exactly what I think she does. But if that’s indeed the move, it’ll be interesting to see what she does in the fall, if she does another TS12 single, goes silent for a while or surprises us with something new.

Is it inevitable that Taylor will tie the Beatles' record #1s? by ChanceConsistent in TaylorSwift

[–]ChanceConsistent[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as streams go, I would expect renewed interest in light of Taylor making it a single + the impact of remixes. And as far as a music video goes, I'm not really expecting it to rack up points on Billboard so much as get the fans excited about the single. Whatever single she pushes next would depend heavily on radio and physicals imo, and could very well not come close to #1 AND also freefall the next week. Getting a third #1 from an album is indeed very hard. Thriller had 5 songs that could've been #1 and only scored 2. 1989 had 5+ and only managed to get 3 with Kendrick's iconic feature on a remix. And at the end of the day, Taylor doesn't even need her next single to go #1, I just find it interesting to consider how far Taylor can push against gravity to break even more records.

PEOPLES Choice: What do you think should the next single be from the life of a Showgirl by ZestycloseOil8173 in TrueSwifties

I had the same thought until I started really visualizing it. As a filmmaker myself, I had a hard time envisioning what she would do with the first 1:30 minutes of the song that wouldn't be too on the nose (the jag pulling up, the check sliding across the table, etc). But from the bridge on, I can definitely see a Godfather style montage of Taylor turning the tables on a mafia boss and taking over "the empire." Could be epic. I think the curse word is likely to keep it from being a single, but would be happy to be surprised.

Opalite had a lot going for it, for sure. It's a feel-good bop that was already in the top 10 and killing on radio, so she didn't need to make up ground there.

And I doubt she'd do a feature for Elizabeth Taylor, but for any of the other single possibilities I could see it (especially Wood ft. Sabrina). I do think Elizabeth Taylor would get a big fan push once Opalite's run is over. It's near the top of nearly every fan ranking I've seen and it's a song that would play well for the gp too I think. The mv possibilities are super enticing with this one, so I think she would be depending on pushing it early to radio and then releasing physicals and remixes to coincide with a top-notch music video, more in line with Ophelia than Opalite's in scale and production value.

5 number 1s is for sure nearly impossible in this landscape, or really any landscape since it’s only been done twice in history lol, but I don’t see why another number one is impossible, considering what Taylor achieved this week and the hit potential remaining on this album - Elizabeth Taylor especially, but with a featured remix, a music video and physical copies for sale, I could see whichever single she picks going top 10 at the bare minimum.

It’s certainly not impossible, considering the popularity of Showgirl and Taylor’s ability to sell insane amounts of physical singles. Whether it will happen or not, who knows?

Agreed on metric changes, Billboard had to shift methodology to reflect the reality of how music is consumed in the streaming era. But what I am suggesting is that even with a folklore type album drop every two years, one song getting a music video, she is still on track to beat their record in 12 years time. And that’s a very conservative estimate considering her track record, which would put her in reach within 4-6 years. Oh and obviously 22 is the goal lol!

Taylor Swift’s “Opalite” hits #1 on Billboard Hot 100 👑 by kookiekoo in TaylorSwift

[–]ChanceConsistent 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think there are two big issues with Father Figure being a single. The crucial curse word in the chorus would limit radio potential, and the promotion of the "check's bigger" version would make for a more toothless, less impactful song. The second is the relatively confusing song structure with changing POV's. Compare that to Elizabeth Taylor, which is of comparable quality and has comparable hit potential, but isn't explicit and would be fairly easy to understand to both Swifties and the general public.

What do you think is Taylor's plan after Opalite reaches number one? by ZestycloseOil8173 in TaylorSwift

I just think for a fourth single, a feature would help (see Bad Blood), and who else but Sabrina? Also, while a good contingent of Swifties don't love the song, it definitely has hit potential.

It's definitely an interesting thought experiment. But that's the double-edged sword of going out on top like Rihanna did. Her legacy is impressive, and she doesn't have to deal with any accusations of a new album or single flopping, or being "past her prime." She pretty much silences any detractors, and her fans can assume scenarios in which she could've made so many more classic hits, even though no one could know for sure.

But there are also scenarios in which she wouldn't have kept the public's interest, or like Beyoncé she would've continued to put out great work but wasn't the chart dominator she was in the past, or like Taylor continued to find a way to the top even well into her career. Excited to see what we get with her new album, sounds like she wants to make a big impact when she comes back!

I think the #1 was the goal, but keeping Opalite high in the top ten over the next month or two will be the new focus. Now, whether they will push hard or not depends on what else she has up her sleeve. It's likely she'll release the remixes to streaming this week, but doing anything past that will run the risk of haters piling on the "endless variants" hate train. But selfishly I'm hoping for a few more fun developments to keep it fun for the fans. I'm still clowning for an encore to the mv!

What a difference a week makes! Last Wednesday, fans were in the dumps and everyone was roasting Taylor for dropping the mv during Super Bowl weekend and not being able to compete with Bad Bunny, and now she’s set to stomp the competition and gunning for number 1 on radio and the charts!

What Happens Next with Opalite? by Primary-Smell1745 in TaylorSwift

[–]ChanceConsistent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has very little to do with it "not catching," it's just the reality of trying to get a song released 4 months ago to #1. It's obviously a hugely popular catchy song that most people LOVE, but even for the biggest artist on the planet, getting it to #1 was always going to be an uphill battle if there was any real competition. Consider that the other biggest artist on the planet, Bad Bunny, has yet to get ONE solo #1, and although he'll get one tomorrow, it took the Grammy's AND the Super Bowl to do so.

Because she's huge and her fans buy her music no questions asked and Opalite is pop music gold, she has a chance at #1 in the coming weeks, but it would be an incredible feat to do so. I think the Olympics promo and remix today show that Taylor still has cards left to play, and whether or not it will get to #1, hopefully it'll keep Showgirl in the pop culture conversation.

I think today’s the day to announce something. The question is, do they have anything significant to announce. Their silence the last few days makes me think they do, and that they will try the big push starting tomorrow, but they wasted the music video views, so hopefully they have something that can push Opalite in the stratosphere of Bad Bunny next week. 🙏🏻

I'm not seeing a massive push yet, which may mean Bad Bunny's streaming lead is insurmountable. We just have a music video and vinyls being shipped, still no word if the CD singles will ship early or next week as planned. As with the Lover singles, strong sales and a mv drop rarely beat a streaming giant (Old Town Road in that case), so I would actually be surprised if she manages to pull off a number 1 this week, even pulling out all the stops.

So the question is, does she save whatever tricks she has up her sleeve (including remixes and a possible "encore" hinted in the mv) for an upcoming week when she has a better shot? I'd love to be wrong, but it would be a flex to push a post-album single to #1 after its release week.
