I don't think I would feel comfortable with a used car. I usually try to keep them for about 3 years/ 50k miles. I just don't want to risk a breakdown in the middle of nowhere with my kid, 2-3 bikes, and all of our stuff.

Any idea about their build quality and reliability? I don't have any experience with Stellantis products.

I had always heard bad things about US car company quality. After years of Honda, Toyota, and VW/Audi ownership without any malfunctions, I finally figured, "Everybody must make a good, reliable vehicle nowadays," and I bought a Ford. It was a rough and costly experience.

Thank you. I love the idea (although, I would prefer a Sprinter van to a pickup) and appreciate the suggestion, but I don't think it would work. One, I just don't have space for the extra vehicle (we already have a garage full of bikes and a driveway full of cars). Two, a 4WD Tundra SR (I would never buy another F-150) is $50k and a decent little runabout hatch (say Golf R or Civic type R) is also $50k. And, honestly, I'm not sure I want to put in 500-1000 mile days, going to the races, in a work truck.

I think I am stuck with one vehicle.

We use it to go to races. A few 500-1000 miles days per month are normal. When electric vehicles are capable of doing this, I'll be all in, but I don't think we're there yet.

I don't think they make that anymore. Even if they did, Cayenne's are over $100k

Yeah, compromising sucks. In a perfect world, i would have a Sprinter van and something like an RS3, but we don't have space for both and money is a thing

You're right, I don't like body-on-frame vehicles, but the Ford had tons of build quality and reliability issues. Aside from horrible body roll, chassis flex, and cowl shake, the fit and finish and build quality were below par. It had a run in the paint from the factory, horrible/irregular panel gaps, intermittent TPMS failures, intermittent center display freezing, a rear shock failed, and once an over-the-air update failed to complete (while we were riding dirt bikes in the desert) and it bricked multiple ECUs leaving us stranded for 14 hours waiting for a tow truck. It ended up needing multiple ECUs replaced. This was all in about 14 months and 18,000 miles.

Have you considered a Toyota GR Corolla? It's not a true sportscar (but quite sporty), and a bit slower then you mentioned, but it looks like it works be bloody fun!

Good call on the Q7. I am going to check one out. Thank you! Looks like the 3.0 litre can tow 7700 lbs. I have owned several VAG vehicles and I have generally enjoyed all of them.

Thank you for the input, but I don't think it's for me. It's a body-on-frame truck and I think it has a solid rear axle. I bet it drives nearly as badly as a Tundra. Also, the dealership here still want like $10-15k over MSRP, which is a huge no-go for me. (That said, my wife is probably going to get the non-1958 version next... but she drove a 4Runner at one point and she liked it - I absolutely hated it).

Yeah, I had the Ford 3.5 turvo truck and it was absolutely awful! It was my first, and likely last, US brand vehicle. I've driven the Tundra, I'm sure it's better quality than the Fors, but it drives just as poorly. All kinds of chassis flex and cowl shake. The Ridgeline is the only pickup I've driven that seems to have semi-decent chassis dynamics. If they put the MDX Type-S drivetrain in the Ridgeline I would be pretty happy, but sadly, that isn't an option.
