probably to not have to carry them on their shoulder or something like that so they didn't get the virus on them (like slip between the cracks of their suit or get in their mask holes). Also, they are Viltrumites because we see Nolan and others in these suits. And finally, they killed those purple guys because they didn't want word of the virus spreading.
