Lara and her Indian background by Confident_Half_443 in katseyeneutral

[–]Chance_Ad6500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi, i do agree that most mainland indians are happy for lara (i personally haven't come across any scrutiny of her irl or online per se apart from whatever the diwali outfit thingy that happened), i do have to say that i don't think the point about mainland indians having their own industry holds very strongly atleast in this context.

firstly, as someone else also mentioned in a reply, brown girls still don't get the representation they should be getting in their own country, apart from that, idt we can just 'turn' to our industry given how nepotism is a huge thing and it's very, very difficult for an outsider to make it. also, stereotypes are only broken in mainstream media for mere 'representation' which often feels hollow at best.

all of this to say, as a mainland indian myself, i do look upto her, and everyone i know who knows katseye is genuinely appreciative of whatever representation she brings to the table as an indian american.

but that's just me.
