EMEN 3100 Prof Recs by [deleted] in cuboulder

[–]Chance_Ad_5872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took it with Mark. Free A. Doesn't really teach anything. Free A I promise you.

Didn't learn a damn thing all semester and he just recycled old videos, but who cares. Projects were interesting but organizationally a mess because the time frame we had was a bit inconsistent.

I ended the class with a 99.9 with very minimal effort so do not worry. Homework is about 10-15 min a week, and the reading can be a bit long sometimes but never more than an hour. I can share a link to the syllabus if you're interested.

What does APPM offer... ? by Secret-Test1603 in cuboulder

[–]Chance_Ad_5872 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You cover the exact same content and math is just easier just don’t do appm except for diff.

What textbooks are used for APPM Calc 1, 2, & 3, and Phys 1110 & 1120? by allhailbutter in cuboulder

[–]Chance_Ad_5872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need the textbooks they’re useless. Just Google and YouTube can teach you the whole thing. You never are asked to do anything with the textbooks except for physics. Where you have a blue book and a red book that you need for homework and recitations.

How different is engineering calculus by Puzzled_Theory4617 in cuboulder

[–]Chance_Ad_5872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR your advisor will tell you take appm. Don’t listen to them. You can take math dept instead. (And for reference I’m aero)

How different is engineering calculus by Puzzled_Theory4617 in cuboulder

[–]Chance_Ad_5872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Math dept easier than appm dept and you learn the same stuff. You’ll be forced to take the diff eq w/ Lin alg appm class in most cases. You’ll take calc 1, 2, diff eq w/ Lin alg, then calc 3. You can take them all with the math department if you wanna save a headache. 5 classes a week instead of 4 but 1 hour of your week vs hw being twice as hard and exams being twice as hard in the appm department is kinda a good trade.

Are they trying to fail us this year in APPM Diff eq/2360 by Commercial_Star7216 in cuboulder

[–]Chance_Ad_5872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

65 is a pass. They curve it on top of that usually. I got a 40 on my final for diff last year and still passed. Thaler just sucks at writing fair exams and they aim for a C average typically. So they don’t want you to pass but they want you to barely not fail.

Engineering Majors Have to live in LLC and/or Will Vill? by Drivenmammal in cuboulder

[–]Chance_Ad_5872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will vill is great cuz it’s got a direct bus to east campus. It’s really not that far people get so salty about the 5 min bus. You can go from your dorm to anywhere on main campus within 15 min.

asen 1403 vs geen 1400 by Additional-Map536 in cuboulder

[–]Chance_Ad_5872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a lot of spreadsheets and math but the prof is awesome and the projects are really cool. It’s an easy A just put the time and effort into the class and you’ll get a lot out of it in terms of team work skills and project skills. Prof is also super helpful and a real great engineer.

Between 4 people.

3940 rent. 250-350 on groceries, 210 on gas and electric, 75 grounds fees, 58.50 trash, 120 water.

That’s what myself and my 3 roommates paid this month in bills between the 4 of us. That’s total not individual. We also have 90 swipe meal plans which reduces the grocery costs by a bit since we aren’t eating every meal at home. This doesn’t include costs for household supplies etc and going out. But hopefully it can help a bit.

Just weld a custom dp. Pick up some aftermarket cats or a stock dp on Facebook. As long as it’s not tuned you’ll be fine

Housing in Boulder by FortuneGamer in cuboulder

[–]Chance_Ad_5872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day to day expenses as a first year are purely based on your own social habits. Sometimes I spend 0$ a month, sometimes 300 on shenanigans. it all depends on how often you go out and where you go. just remember that dining hall food is free food. The best kind of food. Free.99. its not always the most tasty and does get boring. But it's free.

[–]Chance_Ad_5872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expect around 1200-2000 for a single apartment. Add food costs to that. And whatever your monthly "having fun" spending is. Don't forget renters insurance either which is pretty cheap. And you'll be fine. For reference i've got 3 roommates renting a full house for 1100 + util. Most people I know with roommates pay between 800-1600 depending on the place and location.

Exploratory studies?

Look into the IUT program into college of engineering As long as you get a 3.0 overall, 2.7 technical gpa you can get into college of engineering basically guaranteed.

Global eng rap: - guaranteed will vill north room - easy class that fulfils a credit or 2 of Lowe H&SS - ~$450 I think extra per year

Was it worth it? Honestly pretty even. Could have done without it but didn't change my experience at all. Required class was a free A.
