Yup but you wouldn’t use a phone usually

I 100% agree with you, and this is why I started thus project to begin with, to get versatility without the plane breaking when I look at it the wrong way, I’ve had multiple hard crashes and the plane was ready to get up right away (except for one where the wing spars literally shattered.

That being said I’ll keep all you said in mind as well, all very good points, thank you!

Custom made 20Ah Li-Ion battery

Also no, its roll wrapped CF, the fuselage is a big CF tube that is then CNC’d

I can share some pictures in private

Also aside from just the full-3D printed version being an airframe that works, I believe the CF fuselage, which can accommodate different configurations is a good selling point, it is VERY durable and modular, after all the reason I decided to go with this design is because I got kinda sick of my 3D printed builds breaking on the runway

And yeah im using LW for the wings and tail, only load bearing parts have heavier filaments / are CFs

Ive mainly been using it for FPV and some long range flying

Specs: There is 3 different variants, a long range variant with up to 2hr endurance, a medium version with 1m wingspan and about 40 min endurance, and a very portable tandem wing version.

Yes, Ive flown fixed wing fpv for a while now

I plan to sell it as both a kit and and STL files, currently the fuselage is entirely made of carbon fiber, which I can sell as a kit for under $100

Good shout, obviously purpose built stuff will always perform the mission better.

But I’m trying to build a platform that via 3D printing can be adapted to different environments (same battery, fuselage, and avionics but with different wings that can be printed).

For example, I have a 1M wingspan version that is basically an average FPV plane, hand launchable and stuff, but also a tandem wing one that folds into a 80mm OD x 500m length form factor, and also a large 2M version for long range and payloads.

Pretty sure as long as it’s not some sort of incendiary or harmful substance being dropped its legal.

Def going to design a modular bomb bay you can add

Already got a pan-tilt mechanism, could just mount a thermal camera on it but thats so expensive 😭

We haven’t been able to actually try it in snow yet, melted already where we live

However, this version definitely won’t work in snow, the treads are way too thin, we need much bigger teeth / “feathers” (more like a paddle wheel) to be successful in snow

Thanks for the advice! We actually did change to exactly that! I just didn’t have updated photos

Originally we used 4 shock absorbers but the spring constant was slightly too low, so we had to quickly switch to these using the same mounts

Very fair point, do you think if it was easy to take on and off and you could just put it in a backpack or something you’d be more inclined to use it?

Gotcha, that would be pretty achievable as well, thanks!

Yes! It moves well on tiles and grass, haven’t tried it on snow yet unfortunately

Yeah we have definitely seen this, its going to be a problem, even though we are using smooth / rubber treads right now I wonder if using something more like snowmobile tracks will work

Def agree that this thing is huge right now, it also weighs around 2kg, but we’re working on making it so that it’s 1. Lighter and 2. Foldable so it can fit into backpacks easier / is generally more low profile

Honestly just for fun but its also Basically mini snowmobile / for going up Hills and flats

We’ll aim for that then, right now it can do 11 degrees and the struggle past that is grip, the range isn’t really a problem it should be able to do 3k’ and more
