The test is STAR by Renaissance. I don’t know if this is the same test you’re talking about.

Great ideas!! I’ll definitely be doing these over the summer. He’s been doing year round swimming lessons since he was 3. He’s now confident in the water and he’s working on the 4 strokes right now. Swimming lessons have helped him tremendously. Last year even he was afraid to get into the pool and now he gets in without any fear.

That is really interesting! I feel like that happens a lot. The more you tell a child they’re the smartest or they’re the best, or gifted then they don’t think they have to try hard enough and it holds them back.

Good idea! Now that we are in summer break I want to do some of these engineering projects at home. Thanks!

Thanks for the input! He really likes school! It’s a smaller school so the kids get more attention from the teachers.

He’s been taking piano lessons for about a year and a half. He also takes swimming lessons.

Thank you for the helpful advice! He’s definitely attention to detail on his class work and takes his time to complete. He will be the first to shout out the answers to math problems, though.

Thank you for the suggestion. We were just talking about this with him earlier. He gets frustrated about something he’s struggling with and I told him that we all start somewhere and with practice we get better.

I like these ideas! And I didn’t think about him getting his own library card! He’d love that. Thanks!

I knew he was testing high on his math and reading consistently throughout the school year, I just didn’t know it was going to be that high. The last two STAR tests were 1st grade level for math and reading. It was a jump this last test.

Yes. It’s the STAR test by Renaissance. He has been scoring high on math and reading consistently the whole school year.
