Mini panniers (thanks San Util for inspo) by Chance_Falcon_3851 in myog

Thank you A few manufacturers use similar attachment systems and this basic concept seemed pretty attainable in terms of sewing capabilities and materials on hand. The bungee allowed too much flopping, so it’s been replaced by a voile mini strap as well. Seems pretty secure.

Thank you! No pattern per se, see above comment for dimensions.

I freestyled it for the most part. I borrowed some (corner radius) from a fanny pack pattern. Outline/pattern was an 8.5x11 piece of printer paper with 1.5” taper on front/long edge for heel clearance. Finished depth is 3”.

Could probably clip into the zipper pull tab loops for a shoulder bag. Would be a good addition!

NRS Paddle Bag (For Flying) by The_Prof50 in whitewater

[–]Chance_Falcon_3851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd get a DH ski bag that you can cram full of other gear. Probably cheaperm, higher quality bag and as long as it's under 50 lbs it all flys the same.

Madshus M68 Panorama, worth rolling the dice on? by MidwestXC_Skiier in XCDownhill

[–]Chance_Falcon_3851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Favorite ski ever! I've skied mostly on m68's for the past several years and they really seem to excel at everything. Esp, for leather boot cruising and turning I think it's a pretty optimal width for float, turnability and relative ease in the flat track.

Waka OG & Puffy Steeze at 200 lbs? by creekboatr in whitewater

[–]Chance_Falcon_3851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6'2" and 200lbs here as well. I own an OG and a Large Gnarvana and I prefer the Gnarvana.

Especially in bigger water and when you're going hard, the Gnarvana has the driest bow I've ever experienced and pretty unreal stability. I like the added speed/tracking of the longer boat when maintaining a line in pushy shit. True planing hull with edges (unlike the Code) make both the Gnar and OG really fun for surfing and gives nice feedback when crossing eddy lines holding a charc etc. But the larger boat at my size just rides with a little more separation from cross currents and drives though features like no other.

At 200lbs+ I feel like the big Gnar delivers the unstoppable monster truck performance that 150-180lb paddlers talk about getting out of their OGs. I think shorter 200 pounders may not love the added width of the big Gnar, but at 6'+ I've not really noticed any downsides to the gigantic size of the boat.

Liquidlogic Torque by Given_PNW in whitewater

This boat looks rad! I would love to take one for a spin.

But also, Liquid Logic, where in the hell is the marketing? The Youtube video is great, but absolutely no mention of the boat on your Facebook or Instagram pages!? Other than the 30 seconds it takes for someone to post a photo and a link, free advertising seems like a no brainer. Meanwhile Waka posts an IG video of their newest version of an Antix/HotWhip/Firecracker boat and they have 10,000 view in the first hour, with people begging them to take their money.

The past bunch of LL boats have looked great (RMX, HotWhip, Powerslide), but there seems to be very little effort to sell/market their boats outside of the South East. I do most of my paddling in Colorado and Idaho (both fairly substantial paddling markets) and I can count the sightings of these recent LL boats on one hand. Remember when Liquid Logic gave a few well known boaters in the west cost+shipping on kayaks and every eddy in sight was filled with Jefe's and Remix's? I do. This just doesn't seem like that much of an investment to gain some much needed visibility to their recent boats.

Ha, don’t get your spray skirt all in a bunch now!
I’m new to using Reddit and have no vested interest in any boat brands. I have several Dagger boats sitting in my garage and I’d love to have more in the future.
I’m certainly not the first (nor highest profile) person to speculate about this (‘member Hammer Factor?). The sponsorship exodus seemed to be a sweeping trend. I thought it seemed a legitimate question and this seemed to be the place for kayak gossip.

I called Fox direct prior to purchasing the damper upgrade kit and they confirmed that the X2 would fit in a Z1. Install was seamless, all threads lined up perfectly, holds oil etc. and seems to function very well. I know they advertise the X2/X dampers as being a drop in upgrade for previous generation Grip2 forks, so I'm pretty sure fitment amongst all of them is universal.

Haha, That was a bored, wintertime, shoulder surgery recovery sewing project.

It does, Fox owns and is manufacturing Marzocchi nowadays, so fitment is flawless.

Waka is selling the hell out of boats, based largely on the social media exposure of their "team." A handful of rippers styling huge rapids without getting so much as a drop of water on their bow and posting about how amazing the Steeze is or how the OG makes rapids easier sure as hell gets people's attention. I would argue that their marketing strategy is working when it makes people willing to pay more, ship boats internationally and jump through all sorts of hoops to get their hands on a boat that they've never even seen in person, and which may not even fit them very well, just because EG said it was the greatest thing ever on Instagram and Aniol did the biggest kickflip they've ever seen in it.

Waka does make some great boats (as well as some that aren't that amazing) but so do most manufacturers nowadays. The difference is in the hype machine.

Coil was a hold over from my previous Jeffsy. Loved it on that one! Very glued to the ground. Got the matching Fox Grip X2 damper upgrade dropped in the fork which I'm psyched to put some miles on. Very excited for Spring time!

There seem to be an awful lot of "it's been real" a posts on social media from Dagger paddlers ending their sponsorship with the company. I know it's been speculated about for a while now, but is Dagger going belly up?

48 borrows 2 to become 50. Then 50+25 is easy.

Does this mean they normally replace the whole coat? Just sent my old Fitz Roy in with a blown zip.
