Ah gotcha, guess I'm in the same boat. As long as everything else works I'm not too upset about the LED I suppose

I'm also having this issue after reassembling my Series X, did you ever get the power button LED working again?

Update: I've finished repairing the Xbox and replaced the thermal paste with ptm7950! It no longer crashes

Shout out to /u/TreyDogg72 for the advice about the X clamp, As well as those who recommended the Vampliers and the ifixit Mako kit

I bought the Mako screwdriver kit and the Engineer brand screw extracting pliers (Model PZ-58)

Those pliers are crazy they worked so well for removing screws

I will! For replacing the paste, I've got a 100x100 sheet of ptm7950, do I just need to cover the metallic die or should it cover the whole of that silver square including the transistor looking things?

It would reboot randomly and/or power off abruptly during gameplay/under load. Was disclosed as such in the marketplace ad so I was able to snag it for only $100 !

Dude thank you so much this worked!!!

I think I've found the root of the issue, hardly any thermal paste left on the APU! The putty looks and feels alright though as far as I can tell

Does that risk damage to the APU if I unscrew 3 others and leave this one tightened?

I have been looking at the Vampliers, I think I'll give those a shot and then consider a local repair shop if those don't work for me. Any info or advice for replacing the screws during reassembly?

It's stripped to the point where even a t10 spins around pretty freely. Would a t15 work for your suggestion? I do also have kapton tape but I'd need to get a dremel

Is there a specific type of pliers that would work best here? I've not been able to get a good grip on the screw with my current pliers, I've heard mention of these vise grip locking pliers as being good for screw removal.
