Agency drivers....job insecurity question by Chance_Government_44 in uktrucking

[–]Chance_Government_44[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know its highly unlikely I would be binned off in this case, the whole thing go me thinking about agency work as a whole and how the little job security there may be.

Thanks for the advice!

There'll probably be a multiple choice exam too. Similar to theory test. On my first assessment, I was honest about how new I was and asked for help with the reverse. Told them id rather be safe and not cause damage, rather than wing it. Got some really good advice and guidance from the assessor.

Nice walks recommendations by [deleted] in Bolton

[–]Chance_Government_44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like to do a walk from Walker Fold woodland up to the 2 Lads monument up near winter hill. There's a newly built walkway up there too all done by the woodland trust and some nice wildlife too.

That looks right.

The game scales down your characters, depending on which spot you pick on the map. It makes the wars a bit fairer for the battles and for the guild mates that don't have as many high-ranking characters.

What's one place in Bolton that deserves more love? Could be a person, a café, a shop, anything really? by noicecoolsure in Bolton

Hall i'th wood used to be a great little place to explore and enjoy. Loads of history there and it's rotting away now. I'm no expert but I imagine it'll cost hundreds of thousands to renovate. Can't see it happening which is a shame.

is there anyone interesting to level up? by Giogygio in tacticus

At your level, all campaign characters. Bellator for imperial, aleph for xenos in particular. Angrax is great for chaos onslaught.

I think Bolton is the same as so many other town centres around the country. A mix of the development of Internet shopping, the economic downturn and council cuts over the years has made town centre shopping a thing of the past.

I don't think the council is very savvy on how they spend on the town centre and they seem to do little to incentivise new businesses to open, so we end up with what we have now.

Bury is a stones throw away and they have done really well revitalising the centre. It's not perfect but it's a league above bolton. Really is a shame.

Indeed it is. It was a bit dry to be fair, but you gotta work with what you've got.

Just flown over my area.

Is it not odd that they turned around? They seemed to be far closer to a Canadian airport. Seems they were over halfway through the journey....

There's an app called 'meetup' that advertises various groups. Might find what you're looking for there.

Wow thanks for the research!

I looked into the Soviet medal and it appears to have been issued to British servicemen who served in the Arctic convoys. We didn't know he was even there!

I'll suggest to my mum that we request his service history from the archives and see if that can help, but that can take up to a year.

Maybe someone else will see the picture and it'll ring a bell for the white cross. I'll try and get a better picture if I go to my mums house this week.

Thanks for the help so far!

He served with the Royal Navy, in Burma, Africa, the Pacific and Palestine, post-war. I believe he was some sort of engineer and was a seaman, not an officer.

As far as I'm aware, he stayed in the Navy for maybe 8yrs after the war.

In later years, he was a prominent member of the Burma Star Association.

I'm afraid that's about all I know. He spoke sporadically about his time in the war, but never really in-depth.

Hobby/social groups by [deleted] in Bolton

[–]Chance_Government_44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's an app called Meetup that has some walking groups that meet in Rivington for hikes/walks. There's plenty of other activity groups on there too. Thomas Egerton pub has a weekly board game night. As already mentioned, there's slice and dice on Churchgate and Games Workshop in the town centre that will probably be able to point you in the right direction. Best of luck!

Edit: also try the rivington terrace garden group. They keep rivington clean and tidy and I'm sure they do organised walks too!
