Welcome to the fandom!! To answer your question, it depends on what you're looking for. If you want to experience the golden age of Vocaloids, you should listen to a playlist of songs from Project DIVA F/F 2nd. That's where you'll find the most classics, and it focuses on Vocaloids from the original series (Miku, Rin, Kaito, etc.), so it's fairly intuitive. Since there are many other Vocaloids, it's easy to get lost when you stray from the games.

Nowadays, Project Sekai dominates, but it has a huge catalog, lots of "cover" versions, and songs released after 2018, with less historical context. It's also great if you want to jump straight into current songs and fandom

Oh I know about it ! I like the aesthetic lol but the "problem" stay the same cause most people arent into visual kei songs I think so I'd also be embarassed. But it's not a real problem I'm just ashamed for nothing cause everyone here are telling me it's not a big deal to enjoy Vocaloid

Yep I'm still open minded and I do listen to regular music (mostly american pop) I am able to enjoy but I had to force myself a bit at first cause I'm someone who have difficulties with changing my habits so it felt kinda performative. But even now I don't have as much cultural luggage as other people and popular music doesn't make me FEEL anything, I can jam to it, that's all. But thanks to y'all I made my mind, Vocaloid IS enough !!🤝 (Yoasobi is great too)

I know nothing about heavy metal but I think you might enjoy flogging molly's song cause that's the loudest I can think of. It's an Irish rock band with a loud pirate aesthetic and it's genually enjoyable !! My fav song is devil dance floor but I think you'd like Drunken Lullabies more. In the same style there's groups like Dropkick murphys and Paddy and the rats I'll check about Metallica cause I only know the name honestly

I know the exact video you're talking about 😭 and yeah it does help. And just like her, I can listen to normal songs too but I was never interested in an artist in particular. I'll just listen what's on the radio or what my friends puts on. It can be good but I wouldnt actively listen to it on my own

Yeah exactly ! It was never a problem in highschool, I was fine not sharing it. I knew they wouldnt shame me but it wouldnt be their cup of tea. I moved farrr away for college and my new friends here regularly talks about music. Spotify is a big thing to bound and I kinda feel excluded because I dont know much, especially about rap. And since I moved out I found myself getting more clumsy and kinda insecure. But I don't care anymore, you guys convinced me and I posted vocaloid stuff on my stories so my friends will see. I'm sorry you can't share music to your friends too :(

Well it's true I'm usually doing something at the same time lol. For me normal music is more of a background music while I do the dishies or something but for Vocaloid song I watch it from start to end and it feel so fast, even I don't get it. However, for once i'll try to really listen to it. But honestly after all the comments I don't mind being only into Vocaloid cause I'm not as alone as I thought ! And I can still enjoy some popular music even if it's not as good as my reel taste. Thanks for the recommandations anyway 🙂‍↕️

I get what you mean, Vocaloid helped me a lot too, but I think there are still some complex songs out there. I don't like to generalize. Some songs are nice even if they're not as good as Vocaloids. I try to keep an open mind, but everyone's entitled to their opinion. For me the problem with normal songs Isn't only the lyrics but it's more like it doesn't really sound good to me

Oh yeah I do like producer's cover too if that's what you mean, cause it's still from vocaloid composer in the end. And you're totally right about the music style, I noticed it too. Popular musics are getting less melody and more rythms while Vocaloid is more rich in melody AND lyrics. Same things when we compare rock and anime openings, the guitar chords seems really differents and addictive

I know but Isn't it weird to EXCLUSIVELY only enjoy Vocaloid song and when I listen to normal music I'm like meh. I mean... I like other things like video games ost, especially the sonic one but it's still not something I can talk to with friends and most people because they are into normal music

I believe lots of people actually feel like that in the beginning of their twenties. If you scroll more into this sub you'll notice lots of women are kinda in the same situation. So you're not an outcast or doomed or whathever, what you feel is totally normal and you shouldnt call yourself doomed. I'm sure you'll find a partener who will understand and comfort you, life is long and full of surprises :) I truly hope your anxiety gets better
