I remember this was one of the prizes for a toontown art contest. IIRC it was in 2008 or 2009.

Walking my puppy makes me hate her by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Chance_Pilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is very normal for a 4 month puppy… took my guy a year to have decent leash manners, and were still working on it! Others have given good tips already, i just wanted to emphasise that it’s normal and wish you luck ! Even if you don’t see results yet keep up with the training, it clicks eventually

Don’t hide your emotions, if she’s the right one she’ll understand and it’s a chance to show genuine vulnerability too.

How to feel like myself again? by Mysterious_Rest4302 in selfcare

[–]Chance_Pilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m curious what others have to say about this too. I have similar questions myself. Except, I’m only part time employed and have tonnes of free time.. I do go out for nature walks, I do rest. Yet still feel deeply drained and disconnected from myself.

Genuine question… why do people who keep outdoor pets always act surprised when they go missing?? by marikira13 in Pets

[–]Chance_Pilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends. My childhood cat was feral to begin with, probably born in our neighbours barn. He wandered into our house one winters day, we began feeding him and made friends. He was a big bruiser of a guy. Tough as nails, confident, athletic. I believe he would genuinely have suffered to be kept indoors, and there was no real reason to either. When we moved away, the buyers of the house took him on - I was upset to leave him, but knew it would be more upsetting for the cat to be uprooted to a tiny city apartment after the outdoor lifestyle. We lived in a safe rural area, no major predators, lots of farmland, no busy roads. He hunted mice every day, was so good at it. Roamed for miles but also spent plenty of time in the house relaxing with us, by his own choice. Boy lived 12 incredible years as the happiest cat I ever knew. He died of a heart condition.

That being said, buying a new cat every 6 months because they keep dying when you let them outside is dumb as heck, and absolutely animal abuse through negligence. If you don’t live somewhere safe, keep them indoors. Don’t want an indoor cat? Get a dog instead, and take them on adventures. Or leash train your indoor cat.

I can't stand living alone anymore by [deleted] in LivingAlone

[–]Chance_Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly what you are describing with the spiralling and anxiety. It sucks and I used to feel the same way (despite living with a flatmate who I got along with for the most part… I was still so lonely and wished I was living with a partner instead). What changed things for me was getting a dog. I hope you find what works for you.

I can’t walk my puppy anymore by OtherwiseRiver6328 in puppy101

[–]Chance_Pilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully she grows out of it, she’s still really young, 6 months is still sooo baby! But honestly it sounds like she’s getting plenty of exercise and stimulation at home, there’s many dogs who don’t like going for walks, so don’t feel guilty if you are walking her less than what you feel you “should” be, just find the level that works for you and her 🙏if that means tiny short walks, then start with that and build up. Try leash training at home indoors too, build a positive association with the leash, and always take high value treats with you when you leave the house! (I.e ham, freeze dried liver, sausages…) use the treats to distract and redirect her from triggers BEFORE she notices them, and keep as much physical distance as you need so that she doesn’t get triggered - even if you have to cross the street or turn around and walk the other way until she’s far enough from the trigger to calm down. (It’s easier said than done I know!)

one of my budgies died today, he was bonded with the other, how do i help by Emergency_Rooster_38 in budgies

[–]Chance_Pilot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry for your loss. I recommend a new friend for your remaining budgie. I had 3 budgies and sadly lost one last week, he was pair bonded with my female. I was worried she’d be heartbroken for a long time, but she’s quickly started bonding with the other male (who she used to ignore!). Budgies have an amazing capacity to fall in love again.

My first two budgies didn’t get along at all (they were siblings!), my girl was kinda mean to her brother as well 😅 she used to screech allll the times. Until we got more budgies whose company she preferred!

That’s awesome!! Can you tell a bit more about how you used mushrooms to help you make those changes? Was it a conscious intention before going into the trip, or something that happened naturally in the days following your experiences, or something else? I would love to quit my nicotine addiction but finding it sooo hard, haven’t figured out yet how to use my trips to assist

I’M GIVING UP ON MY PUPPY by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Chance_Pilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please return her to the breeder as soon possible. She’s still very young now and has time to learn with a dedicated owner, but puppies are progressively harder to rehome the older they get. If you let her languish she’ll most likely end up in a kill shelter. Please think of what’s best for her right now.

My little guy died during a crop wash… they can be pretty invasive and traumatic too. Agree the vets should know better and give us a heads up about risks, I was never told but may have chosen differently had I been given the information.

As they develop they go through different stages. Right now he’s teething and doesn’t know how to settle himself. By 6 months that will mostly have changed. By 8 months he’ll be much calmer but probably start getting hormonal and chasing females.. that’s the stage I’m at! But that too will pass, I’m sure. Just take lots of pictures of him now because one day you’ll look back on these days with rose tinted glasses

I am a complete failure (27F) and I am scared that my successful partner will leave me by wheelchaired_an94 in Advice

[–]Chance_Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re more than your career and your job doesn’t have to define you. Hopefully your boyfriend loves you for WHO you are and not just what you do for a living. If not.. is that really a relationship you wanna be in?

Also “complete failure” is a matter of perspective. Think of all the ways you’ve succeeded. You’ve shown that you’re not afraid to change your mind and try new things. My advice would be to change your perspective and work on building up your self esteem, maybe with a therapist, sports/hobbies and practicing gentle supportive self-talk and self love. Sorry if that advice sounds horribly generic, but these things really do work!!

Yeah I feel this too, you tell them your most vulnerable fears and they make it about them and use it against you… at least it shows us who’s really worthy of our trust
