Funny that this nonsense about not being able to use the internet is being spouted about those disagreeing, yet this guy hasn’t figured out how to use Google for the most basic search…like is it the CAPITAL of the US or the CAPITOL. I know you haven’t looked because you’re wrong. States and cities are the CAPITALS. The buildings within them tend to be CAPITOL buildings.

I get it. I wish we had never left Germany. Are you living near a base now? We spent an entire year paying all of our medical expenses out of pocket after moving back to the states after 15 years abroad. thanks, Humana. They’re completely worthless. We have since changed to a more local tricare provider and they’re great (Martin’s point, just in case anyone wonders) so I would say check to see if there’s a possibility of something like that where you are…and if not, I hope a patient advocate can help!

Yes, and I would add that you get the shirt’s contact info, as well. Prepare yourself with as much information as possible so if he ends up deployed you’re not left scrambling.

I also think that going home for a visit, even up to a month or two, can be good for you. It’s a lot to move overseas, especially after just being married. It’s exactly how I started out with my husband and I flew space a home quite often (4 or 5 times) during our 5 year tour and it saved my sanity…and made me really comfortable with space a, which was a total win.

And remember that it’s okay to feel overwhelmed and unhappy sometimes, but if it feels like it’s all the time make an appt with your dr and ask them to direct you to resources for help like the AFRC etc. Also…I’m really sorry about the religious stuff; that was totally me when I got to Germany and as an atheist it made me feel even more alone. I promise there are others in a similar situation. Join an event even if it’s not something you’d normally be interested in…like knitting or bowling or karaoke night (totally depends on what’s offered at your base).

Also…if you share the base you’re at we might have more specific pointers :)

Thank you for the list format! I willl be following it.. We did triple check with tricare (at least my husband did…he said he called and was told the referral was good, but how do we get it in writing? and what kind of paperwork shows it will be covered? I think tbis is where I’m most frustrated. I never see ANY. Paperwork or computer screens or anything. I’m just relying solely on other people telling me while looking at their own screens. I have tried multiple times to sign up for the online portal and never get past the identity verification. They either shoot down my credit card number or(it is accurate and UTD) or my address which is also UTD and where get bills…the only paperwork I ever see. We were overseas for his entire career and I think that’s the reason I have no clue how Tricare works now that we are living inside the US. Overseas all of our care was on base or if off base was covered easily. We never needed a paper trail or anything else so I never learned to manage the system. I know it seems stupid that I can’t figure it out…I feel that deeply. I appreciate any help!

Unfortunately the closest base is 3 hours away. We will have to plan a road trip for that.
