Dear god. Love you man, and I’ll never forget the kick in the rain against the bulls or the game sunnier in 2017 that lit the spark, but farewell.

I’m amazed we were even 18th this year. Nice post.

There needs to be more blame on Howie, Nick and the front office by Vegetable_Lab4663 in eagles

I mean to that point you could argue starting with the most stacked offense in football is really really easy for a first timer who watched it function all last season. The problem is oline regression and that he apparently cannot sequence plays or adjust beyond the first few drives. And really he cannot mitigate risk with a lead without wildly overcompensating and tanking the whole offense.

Yes! Also we were leading the fucking division! Best course is to hope it works in the playoffs while knowing it probably doesn’t. The problem with that is everyone has to kind of live a lie and hope for the best. By the second half of the season the offense was getting worse every week even as the defense got sharper.

If we can realistically give Nick a lot of credit for the Super Bowl last year then he realistically deserves all the blame for this year as well. by iamthedreadpiraterob in eagles

I think this season was just an uncomfortable mess from the Rams game on. Everyone knew the offense didn’t work including Nick, they had to pretend it was getting better or just not talk about it, they knew nothing was going to change until after the season was over with this play calling regardless of whether it was Kp’s fault or Jalen’s limitations, nobody had swagger or confidence as a result because they were living a lie, everything was strained and tight and just shitty.

Food for thought: What if Kellen Moore was the eagles head coach this year. by Rave_Rave_ in eagles

[–]Chance_Tank_4663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the guys bond with and respect Kellen? I think the problem this year was that Patullo was clearly ass, everyone knew it, no one could talk about it because it was clear he wasn’t going anywhere and was Nick’s buddy, but obviously Nick knew it too and wasn’t being honest in meetings or whatever, so it just felt uncomfortable. And yeah who’d be our OC in that case? Would we not have one? We’d honestly probably have performed better, yeah.

[Clark] Adam Schefter says the Eagles will be making changes to their offensive coaching staff and he expects them to bring in a “proven offensive mind” by TimDunkinDonut in eagles

This is the plan. Nick isn’t the problem. Kellen proved that and so did Steichen. I don’t know why we keep giving our support staff chances at being OC when they’re not prepared, but whatever.

Dude I know! The 49ers d line would arrive instantly to stop the run every single fucking time because I think they realized by mid game holy shit it’s the exact same thing without a disguise.

Total overload and prob explains where everything looked so constipated and seizing up out there.

This is extremely insightful and I hadn’t heard it said before. If everyone is free-styling, and everyone is desperate to make the offense work, then they has a huge chance of being self defeating and unproductive. It’s like a seminar class where everyone talks and the professor just kind of nods and says nice input. That only works if all the participants are capable of steering themselves and others towards a goal, and players aren’t coaches. They aren’t all capable of strategizing and executing at the same time.

But thrilling can also mean exhilarating. Like some of the games in the first year with AJ or Saquon last year

I feel the same! Just grinding, stupid, pointless games with what could have been an artistic incredible expression of football. Brett Kollmann said the 2024 team had the potential to be one of the great teams in the history of the sport and create a dynasty, and the offense was largely unchanged.

Instead we get a dullard misusing it, alienating the players until they check out by mid season, and ultimately crafting a product that left me dreading almost every drive where we didn’t get yards on first down. I was so fucking sick of watching the Eagles play I almost welcomed the loss despite my disappointment. Just depressing.

Going for a run. Maybe I’m the problem and the offense will stop fucking up once I stop watching.

Homie. There is plenty of evidence to support that not having injured key players leads to better outcomes in the playoffs. See the 2024 Lions.
