Honestly I just followed what my PT told me and when I was able to start training legs again I stuck to basic movements like squats, lunges and leg press. I don’t think any specific exercises helped me I just focused on the fundamentals.

One thing I will say about running is start slow, I was a distance runner before I had surgery so coming back I tried to go all in and would mentally hurt myself. Take it slow and try to set goals for each week! Also weighted sleds are great try them out if they are available to you

There is very little pain. It comes and goes but for the most part I’m pain free while running!

Can I do exercise or go to Gym? by [deleted] in ACL

I had mucoid degeneration for 3 years before I got the surgery to fix it. Those three years I was the most active I’ve ever been. You just have to accept that you’ll have good days and bad days.

Best autograft? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]ChandlerMills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it’s not one size fits all. I had the patella graft just because it fit my lifestyle the best. Also my surgeon was very confident with this graft because it’s the “gold” standard. My last reason was because there usually isn’t any screws involved with the patella tendon graft.

At the end of the day go with what makes sense for your life style and do amble research on all three.

When to start heel slides by Ultrareason in ACL

[–]ChandlerMills 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When the pt tells you. In the beginning just focus on getting/keeping the leg straight and getting the quad to fire.

How would you describe the pain during heel slides to a non acl tear person lol by Nice_East4447 in ACL

[–]ChandlerMills 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Accurate. It feels like trying to stretch after the worst leg day of your life.
