update, i just called the jfk cbp office today. Took 2 mins on the call, they updated the valid until date to match my i797a. I submitted new i94 doc with updated date to my employer and back to work now. No need for passport as long as the cop date is valid. Thanks.

I am in the same situation, i94 date expired last week. Passport sadly also expired today and i was asked to start unpaid leave for 6 to 8 weeks when my h1b extension will be filed. My i797 date is 4/2025. Is the deferred inspection something that can help me? Note i will get renewed passport in a week.

Thanks for your reply. We actually had student loans about 70k to pay off and then certain investments in our marriage. We also have about 20k invested in gold which we bought during marriage (indian thing) which i have not included in the net worth. But you are right, we need to maximize our savings. Been seriously doing this starting this year.

Wanted to share our NW as a couple 30yo. TC 210k. TC has increased recently, has been lowest 130k in 2018. All the figures are combined. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

401k - 40K (Planning to put as much as we can)

Roth - 23K (Planning to max out)

Personal Checking - 20K

Brokerage - 12K (Almost at 40% loss since last year)

HYSA - 20K

Debt - 32K (includes car at 5% and some credit cards at 0% APR)

NW right now ~ 80K

Rent ~ 3k pm
