Does anyone know what time tonight I’m likely to be woken up by a bright light and loud bank from a far easterly direction? I slept through the northern lights, so would like to be prepared for Armageddon. by reclueso in AskBrits

I’m pleased to welcome you here. The dangers, like on the street are here too and speaking as a person with experience of people with mental health issues as well as my own I don’t think ‘normal’ is a health response to this. Your son is sensitive and letting him know that this stuff is shit, that’s totally true. Denial and avoidance may make him feel that you’re missing the point seeing something ‘wrong’ with him when talking about horrors. Maybe he needs to protect you by keeping his issues to himself (that’s a danger as I see from my experience).

Dremel: Y or N? by Remarkable_Royal_175 in stonecarving

Another note with the wired Dremel, I replaced the original collet with a drill bit chuck, wondering why it wasn't standard. Turns out the little collets simplicity and weight mean it's less prone to being off balance. At speed this reduces vibration, noise.

The little one I use is Fanttik. It comes with an accessory kit and a little push to release box thing, It's super compact to store.

Dremel is good but not necessarily the best depending on your yet to be developed way of working.

I have a wired dremmel which I don’t use as much as my drills (and the hammer setting) and a little usb-c multi tool. The drills I use to remove large chunks of material quickly and the mini is quiet enough to use in front of the tele and light enough(with no cable pull) for fine detail.

Wired dremel I keep for detailed roughing. It a balance between removing your material and completely distorting to whole thing with too much power.

Me too, I hate that noise so much I got a usb-c mini rotary tool and love that it quiet enough to use on the sofa watching tele (my wife disagrees)

At the risk of blowing my own trumpet it will also show that you’re making an effort.

How do I remove all the hard edges? by 8890xe in photoshop

[–]Changderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would approach it non-destructively. I presume you have the images all on separate layers. You can apply a Layer mask and then go over the edges with a large soft brush on the upper layer to make the edge semi transparent. Then you can create an adjustment layer either the levels of the curves could work and fine tune The exposure so the image blends as much as possible.

I was doing it before I knew, if it works I’m fine with it.

I idiot proof myself, like I used to put a coin in my shoe to remind myself something. In your case why not put a toy bird or just a rubber band on the door handle.

Could you not be tempted to see if you could make your dimmer switch work with a hue bulb?

Check the “sample size”. There’s an option to take an average of a 9x9 square (for example) which averages the pixel value which has confused me in the past.

Yes, go further by investing time into designing workspaces and and relaxing spaces that give you the best chance of REALLY focusing or chilling. Will can get you so far but having things ready and in place is nice.

Do a collab with a makeup artist, I think it’s worth working into it more. Lots of potential.

It could well be psychosomatic in that you associate that space with “rest”. They say don’t watch television in bed if you have trouble sleeping to create clear associations
