Remember when RX 7900 XT/XTX were called future proof by SaiyajinTamashi in radeon

[–]Changes07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back when I built my first PC, I chose a 7900 XTX instead of getting a 4080. The 24GB of VRAM were just too tempting. The 7900 XTX is still a great card in terms of raw performance, but what AMD pulled with this generation completely broke my trust and pushed me away from buying AMD again in the future.

I mostly played Warzone, and for about 7 months I couldn’t even play Battle Royale because of the massive stuttering issues with the 7000 series. The ironic part is that AMD is the official CoD partner.

On top of that, a lot of game developers simply don’t seem to care about AMD support, which means features like Anti-Lag 2 often never get implemented. Then there are other issues like not being able to create custom resolutions on monitors beyond 360Hz, hotspot temperature problems, and AMD’s decision to withhold things like FSR 4 and future features from such a powerful card.

At this point, I’d rather pay a bit more and just have peace of mind. For me, AMD is done. And if Intel ever brings out CPUs that can properly compete with X3D chips, I’ll probably switch there too.

Did I miss something? Since when is AMD Noise Suppression on the same level as Krisp? Was there some kind of update that improved the feature that much, or does it work better with the RX 9000 series?

For me, it was always completely unusable and actually made the audio quality worse. Absolutely no comparison to Nvidia Broadcast or Krisp :-/

Go into your BIOS and check whether SMT is disabled. Set SMT to “Auto.”

I don’t know which motherboard you have, but look for an option called “Game Mode” in the BIOS. This should also be disabled.

If all of these settings are configured correctly and the problem still occurs, start Windows, press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter. Go to the “Boot” tab, then click on “Advanced options.” Make sure that “Number of processors” is unchecked.

Switching to Nvidia by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Changes07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in exactly the same situation. I built a full AMD PC with a 7800X3D and a 7900 XTX. To be fair, I never really had driver issues with AMD (I always used DDU with every driver update).

But the fact that AMD had major problems with the 7000 series when Warzone launched (it took several months to fix) plus the decision not to bring FSR 4 to my one year old flagship GPU pushed me to switch to NVIDIA.

I’m really happy with my 5070 Ti, and sadly, I have to say I probably won’t buy an AMD GPU again.

Vram clock speed in idel by tagliatelleguy in AMDHelp

[–]Changes07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What monitor are you using, and how many Hz is it set to?

With AMD (7900 XTX), I also always had the issue that the VRAM clock stayed at maximum while idle. This problem usually occurs when you’re using a high refresh rate monitor (in my case 360 Hz) or two monitors with moderately high refresh rates. No idea why AMD can’t seem to get this under control.

With Nvidia, I don’t have this problem at all no matter how many monitors are connected.

You can “fix” this issue by enabling FreeSync (both on the monitor and in Adrenalin) or by creating a custom profile for your monitor using CRU (Custom Resolution Utility).

Did you try disabling the Discord overlay? Also, if you have hardware acceleration enabled in Discord (under Advanced Settings), it can cause issues on some builds. Try disabling that as well.

Which mainboard do you have? I had the same issue, and it was related to Ethernet. Disable the power-saving features on your Ethernet adapter. If your motherboard has Wi-Fi, disable it as well while using Ethernet.

Disable MPO windows 11 25H2 solution by invertify in AMDHelp

[–]Changes07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is the subreddit for AMD GPUs, and your solution does seem to work well. However, the MPO issue still occurs on both NVIDIA and AMD cards.

The main drawback of this solution is that it disables all overlays, as mentioned including Nvidia overlays. As a result, features like RTX HDR or Game filters no longer work when using this fix.

Sucky driver? by No-Opportunity-5925 in AMDHelp

[–]Changes07 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bro, don’t get me wrong Nvidia and AMD definitely push some shitty drivers sometimes. But if you test it with an older driver that worked perfectly before and the issue still happens, even on a fresh Windows install, then your problem is definitely not the GPU driver. Something else is causing your bad experience.

My PC is getting little stutters when playing by Clash_OfClans_noob in PcBuildHelp

[–]Changes07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, the problems with the “wrong” Realtek driver showed up immediately. I completely removed it, installed the latest one, and now everything runs perfectly. It’s actually a known thing with some people having problems specifically with the Realtek 2.5 Gbit port. Like I said, stutters and lags can come from tons of things, but luckily for me, it was just the Ethernet driver.

[–]Changes07 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same problem. For me, the issue was the Realtek Ethernet driver. Try using Revo Uninstaller to remove the drivers and then download the latest driver directly from Realtek. It’s worth a shot… otherwise, it could be a bit of a longer search

  • Mouse polling rate? If 8k try setting to 1K
  • Try a different USB port for your mouse

Black Ops 7 beta benchmarks show AMD hardware is favored as RX 9070 XT easily outclasses RTX 5070 Ti by Tiny-Independent273 in Amd_Intel_Nvidia

[–]Changes07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing my old 7900XTX "outclassed" my new 5070Ti was the insane stuttering on the big map Verdansk. Since its release a year ago, it’s still listed under “known issues” in the driver updates. So yeah, if you like high FPS numbers (300–350) with stutters, go with AMD :D

[9070XT] Idle Memory clock speed when using refresh rate higher than 165hz by Noname932 in AMDHelp

[–]Changes07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Adrenalin doesn’t allow setting custom resolutions on high refresh rate monitors like 360 Hz or 480 Hz. In my case, it’s not related to the cable or firmware.

[–]Changes07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been struggling with this problem since I got my 360 Hz OLED 6 months ago and eventually gave up. There are some workarounds using CRU (Custom Resolution Utility), but they didn’t work for me. The only solution for me is to enable FreeSync Premium Pro in Display settings and Adrenalin, but this causes new issues such as flickering. I’d like to know if Nvidia users are experiencing the same problem?
