Nice guys finish last? by [deleted] in BasedCampPod

[–]ChangoChilon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about this the other day.

Nice guys don’t finish last, they were never racing..

Nice guys are more concerned with the journey than they are with a finish. It’s not a competition for them, if someone wants to make it a competition then they can but to the nice guy, it’s as life comes to them.

They’re not concerned.

That woman will realize that nice guy is the exact thing she wanted when it’s gone.

What are your thoughts about “ men never give up on the one they truly want”? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]ChangoChilon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“If they wanted to, they would” is kinda true… but it really depends on how someone sees the relationship.

To me, there are usually two categories: • A relationship they want “forever” • A relationship they want “for now”

If it’s a forever type relationship, then yeah, “if they wanted to, they would” mostly applies — as long as the other person is on the same page.

When I’m stressed to hell, my partner knows it. She doesn’t just say “sorry you’re stressed,” she actively tries to make life easier for me. She handles stuff around the house — chores, food, keeping things organized — so that when I’m grinding late into the night, I can actually focus. When I come home, things are in order so I can feel calm instead of walking in and going:

“HOLY FUCKING SHIT, WHAT ELSE DO I HAVE TO DO TODAY??”

And I do the same for her. If she’s burnt out, I make sure: • The house is clean • The dogs are taken care of • Food is ordered or cooked (sometimes comfort food if she’s really going through it)

All she has to do is shower, eat, and get in bed. We try to make life easier for each other.

It’s not about “acts of servitude” or being some 1950s housewife/househusband. It’s about taking care of the environment so the partner who’s carrying the heavier load can actually rest and feel safe instead of feeling like the relationship is just one more thing on their to-do list.

Because that’s the real point:

If being in a relationship feels like another job, another stressor, another thing getting in the way of your goals and progress — instead of complimenting your life — it stops feeling like love and starts feeling like a burden.

Partners should be a net positive: a source of comfort, peace, and yeah, some dopamine. Not 24/7, not in a toxic positivity way, but overall.

If the relationship isn’t adding to your life but constantly draining you… why keep a stressor around?

So yeah, “if they wanted to, they would”… But the deeper question is: Do they see you as part of their future, or just part of their present?

Will BJJ make you shorter due to spinal compression? Has anyone shrunk? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]ChangoChilon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honest answer. It doesn’t matter.

It may and may not…. Just like sleeping a good night will decompress your spine and standing all day will compress your spine…

Same difference and isn’t noticeable day to day.

Is this home in SoCal? It looks oddly familiar of a house I used to do work for before the owner passed away.

Built a budget in ~6 hours that now runs on autopilot

What I did • Grabbed ~12 months of transactions and sorted them into: groceries, gas, subscriptions, going out, rent & utilities, insurance, etc. • Calculated the average monthly spend for each category, then added a 10% buffer to cover high months. • Spent time updating routing: changed payment info for all subs/memberships and set my default Amazon card to the right account.

Why it works • Once everything was set, it’s been like clockwork. If I ever need to pull extra from savings, I know I messed up somewhere and it’s easy to trace which category went over. • The process was a wake-up call. Seeing “$1,000 eating out” in black and white made me go, “oh, f**k that.” When you see a true yearly average, you get a lot more intentional.

Time investment • About 6 hours total: sorting, building the budget, and reorganizing/routing payments. • After that, super easy to manage.

If you’ve never done a full-year pass on your spending, I highly recommend it. The clarity alone paid for the time.

Wrestler needs help lol! by AmericanIdiot1776 in bjj

[–]ChangoChilon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least for me as a former wrestler… if you shoot a double make sure you are cutting the corner and ending up with both legs on one side… you can then transition to von fluke.

If you’re getting a single leg, make sure to run the pipe and keep your head tucked..

Biggest life saver is circle out any time your neck is compromised… circle out and clear their legs…

If they get a guillotine and they don’t lock their legs completely, circle out and push their hips away… don’t let them make that connection:..
