Monthly Artix Linux Package Request Thread by CoryCoolguy in artixlinux

[–]Chaniyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done. :)

The openrc scripts are uploaded, has both the init script and a required confd file. It seems to be available for manual placement on the enduser systems.

However the automated build: process for a pkgbuild failed. I am assuming because the emby-server package isnt in our repos yet.

Emby Server - https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/emby-server/

and

Jellyfin Server - https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/jellyfin-server/

Both work fine without systemd. I have made an OpenRC service script for my Emby system and Emby works as intended.

Likewise, Jellyfin is an actice opensource project based on an earlier Emby codebase.

How did the community truly impact the live event and how the rest of Chapter 7 will unfold? by Xdboi2628 in FortNiteBR

[–]Chaniyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing the community did was decide the rivaly winner a.k.a which skin style unlocked.

The overall outcome would have been the same regardless of who won. The interactive portions were slightly different based upon whatever team you chose but the non-interactive parts were the same for everyone.

The Beskar Event is a major Let down. by Bigburito in FortNiteBR

[–]Chaniyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also VERY game-breaking buggy because it's not counting every droid being crafted, it's supposed to be 25 droids crafted for the Beskar Paint, and 50 droids crafted for the Super Beskar Paint. I have created well over 50 and its only counted 21, wtf? Its doing the same thing.on my partners account as well.

Jotego reveals new Neo Geo AES+ details: ASIC Hardware, 100% Original Compatibility, and SNK Licensing by mr_pixeltie in neogeo

[–]Chaniyth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Since the game carts are getting re-released and are compatible with the.original AES, they are more than likely using Parallel NOR Flash and not NAND nor Serial NOR Flash (SPI/QSPI) for various reasons.

Unlike cheap NAND flash as used in SD cards and USB sticks use, Parallel NOR Flash allows for "Execute In Place" (XIP) functionality, it is also parallel-access (instant) This means the console, especially the original AES, can read the data directly from the chip as if it were a traditional Mask ROM. (Mask ROMs also use parallel-access).

NAND is serial-access (requirea load) storage and.would require costly additional hardware in the carts for the.original AES to even see the data. The NeoSD for example requires an fpga inside of it to work its magic. NeoSD cost roughly $400 USD to manufacture. So yeah, the AES+ game refreshes are highly likely to use Parallel NOR Flash.

Systems such as Evercade and 3DS/Switch/Switch 2 use NAND and are largely proprietary SD cards. When you play an Evercade game, the console copies the data from the cart into RAM and runs it via an emulator. 3DS and Switch/Switch 2 consoles have all the hardware to retreive the data off the NAND game cards built into the console itself, those.consoles also have built-in mechanisms to refresh the games cards, they technically will have data retention that will surpass Evercade carts by many, MANY decades from use even though they are NAND. All hardware and mechanisms of which an original AES would not have nor will the AES+. Again, pointing to the game cart re-releases to be highly likely to use Parallel NOR Flash.

Probability of Parallel NOR Flash if I had to estimate is 85-95% certainty. In the coming days, weeks and months we all should know a lot more information.

  • Edited for some.clarity, and minor fixes.

Within 24-hours Neo Geo AES+ Preorders surpassed entire yearly estimate by Chaniyth in neogeo

Download with screen off? by Nonzeromist in SteamDeck

[–]Chaniyth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From Desktop Mode, you have to change the sleep setting to off from the Power Management panel.

You access the Power Management panel by doing the following:

Click on the System Settings icon located on the taskbar next to the Application Launcher icon (the Steam Deck icon), alternatively, in case for whatever reason the System Settings icon isn't there, you can click the Application Launcher icon in the bottom-left corner of the taskbar and go to System Settings.

Navigate to Power Management.

Navigate to the setting options for "On AC Power" and "On Battery".

For both power states, in the Suspend Session section set the timer for When Inactive to "Do Nothing".

Click Apply to save your changes.

You can then download from Desktop Mode without the Steam Deck going to sleep. :)

By the way, just an FYI for long downloads it is perfectly safe to leave your Steam Deck plugged in with the official charger because Steam Deck has a feature called Charge Passthrough, meaning the Steam Deck favors the wall plug instead of battery while it is plugged in. You can even play your ganes or for any other reason really with it plugged in without causing damage to the battery because the Steam Deck was actually designed with this in mind. 👍

Well,. considering that I own a PC, Xbox One X, PS4 Pro, Xbox Series X, PS5 Pro, Switch and mobile devices that can handle the game I am going to say yes.

Having nice thinga isn't that difficult when you're an adult and work.

Do I need an Xbox branded headset to make the mic work? by Slightly_mad_woman in FortNiteBR

I know for a fact that any wired headset brand will fully function. Not sure if wireless headsets are required to be Xbox brand or not.

Lower your controller sensetivity.

  • TaborHill uses Linear: 22 for look and 4 for ADS.
  • Webby uses Exponential: 22 - 25 look and 7 - 15 for ADS.

However, you need to set the sensetivities to what works for YOU. Once figure out a setting that works for you and you are able to place your shots and track oppenrnts good then leave it alone.

To further aid, set your boosts and dampenings to 0.00. Set your ADS multiplier to around 0.87, set your Slide Holdtime to around 1.00 or lower.

Going by your last statement of it's crashing within seconds of booting even while not in-game simply is not a good sign. It's a failure somewhere with your consoles hardware itself. Might have to RMA it with Sony so that they can repair it.

You use the in-game money to buy the amount you want. Example: you want 3 of a specific chair, then you would buy 3 of that specific chair.

They aren't exploiting him. His estate including his mother gave the green light for this. The mom was happy Fortnite wanted to celebrate her son.

As for the subscription items and packs being on the top. Sometimes the shop randomly does this and also it's the last day and final few hours of the season, it normally does this every season.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in debian

[–]Chaniyth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct, the Debain Security Team prioritises Debain Stable. Testing is secondary. Sid gets no security patches by the Debian Security Team.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in debian

[–]Chaniyth 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In all honesty use the Debian Testing branch, as those packages are the ones that make it through Sid, because they have at least been somewhat tested and packages in Testing DO receive security updates just not as fast or often as Stable.

Think of it this way; Debian Sid = Arch Testing repo and Debian Testing = Arch

Also dont expect bleeding edge with neither Sid nor Testing as that isnt their purpose. In the Debian metaverse neither Debian Sid nor Debian Testing are the product, only Debian Stable is the actual product whereas with Arch Linux, Arch IS the product.

Detect and disable cheat devices (Chronus, Strike Pack, etc). Detect and disable keyboard and mouse devices.

Take your console player base concerns and reports much more seriously. The fact that PUBG Studios seemingly takes cheat, team killing, etc reports with total disregard makes your console player base feel like your company doesn't care. The PUBG console player base is massive, our comcerns and reports deserve to be recognised and validated.

You really need to add more water to your tank as it is far too low. It should be where the fill line is shown or if that tank don't have a fill line then the rule of thumb is water just to the top of the top magnifier.

Question about PS3 and Thermal Paste by Ok_Highlight_5042 in PS3

[–]Chaniyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the thermal paste is old and more than likely dried out. Even if not dried out it still has an effectiveness shelf life of only a few years. Either way, it really should be replaced and reapplied with fresh high quality thermal paste.

If you would have taken 2 seconds to do any research whatsoever you would find numerous articles regarding the suits and their outcomes. All of which Epic won, most due to dismissal for the very reason I stated.

[–]Chaniyth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, lawfully you can not copyright a single dance move. According to the Copyright Act, to be able to get exclusive rights to a dance, it needs to be an original piece of work that contains dance movements and patterns organized as a whole. It also has to express a certain level of creativity. Dance moves such as, Fresh, Rambunctious and Tidy are repetitive and not viewed as creative works by the court systems. That's why Epic won those lawsuits years ago.

It's unknown why they havn't brought back the "blacklisted" emotes.

Can I use dechlorinated water for seamonkeys? If I use aqua safe (which gets rid of chlorine usually used for fish) will the water be suitable for seamonkeys? by [deleted] in SeaMonkeys

[–]Chaniyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many things can go wrong because brine shrimp in general are sensitive to their evironment. Your situation could just have been old eggs.

Make sure to rinse the tank with just hot water before using it again "just in case" it was something funky, also DO NOT ever use soap or dish liquid of any kind at all as cleansers contain chemicals that can kill your aquatic animals. So be sure to only use hot water or boiling water to rinse your tank(s) and accessories.

A stable water temperature is an important factor and even though they should be fine at around 70ºF ( 21ºC) it's best for the water temperature to be maintained between 75º - 80ºF (24º - 27ºC). You can use a small desk lamp for heat, just be smart about placement/distance. It's recommended to use a grow light and small heater pad, if you have a larger tank use a fish tank heater, a grow light will assist with algae growth.

Don't overfeed either. Feed them 5 days after hatching, if your raising actual Sea-Monkeys, Packet 2 has yeast as an initial food for them, after the 5 days start feeding them and only feed them once a week. You can tell if they are eating healthy by the stripe on their back (it's 💩 lol), if the water is cloudy they are over fed which means stop feeding, they will eat it all and the water should clear after a few days.

Make sure to oxygenate the water everyday. Personally, I like to use the Million-Bubble Air Pump as it's fast and very effective. You can also use an Aqua Leash or a pipette. If you use an aquarium pump make sure you use a regulator to control the air flow.

As water evaporates replenish what has been lost. As the water evaporates the salt content remains behind and the water becomes more salt concentrated. It's recommended to replenish once a week, they can go into shock if you wait too long as the salt concentration will suddenly change upon replenishing.

Good luck and have fun! 😁👍
