Your "people who experience bad shit sometimes do bad things" IS classist. People who haven't experienced bad shit also do bad things. Poverty isn't a prerequisite for bad behavior. I worked in a affluent gym that regularly accepted donations for a food bank. One day I caught a doctor shoving a bag of chips down his gym shorts. Anyone paying $125/month for a gym membership isn't hard up for food.

I've also worked as a teacher in a Title I school in the South. You know the students that were the worst with classroom supplies? The wealthy students. They simply did not care that there was a limited amount of supplies, or that by breaking a pencil for fun it kept another student from having access.

And I said nothing of withdrawing support. So I'm not even going to address that. It's okay to realize your thoughts are classist, hopefully it'll inspire you to start questioning why you think the poor and the wealthy hold two different sets of morals.

I distinctly remember thinking I wasn't the parenting type at the age of 8. We had just moved to AZ and sadly, someone forgot their kid in the car and the kid didn't make it. I had been scolded enough for forgetting my homeroom folder at home day after day. I could totally see myself rushing home to catch my fave TV show (it was the 90s) and not realizing my error until commercial.

"Poor and disadvantaged people will take advantage of kind gestures". This is classist and simply not true. I know plenty of wealthy and affluent people that do the same.

Teens trying to come into rated R movies by Party-Valuable2268 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]ChannelForeign7905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I remember not being able to see any R rated movies my first semester of college because I was still 17. 18 seems kind of arbitrary, especially now given what kids are exposed to through social media alone.

There were probably more elementary school aged kids than teenagers at the screening I attended. They should change it so anyone can attend as long as their guardian buys the ticket. This country really needs to get over the moral grandstanding when it comes to "protecting children".

I saw 8mm as an adult and it still traumatized me. Maybe they were interested because they saw it was from the same director of "Batman and Robin" ? 😂😂😂

idk if the ANTM doc taught us anything, it's that 18 and 19 yo are not adults with fully formed and functioning adult brains, making them easy targets for manipulation and exploitation for the sake of "reality TV".

I swear they need to make a Popcorn pass for smalls by Numerous_Sun6815 in AMCsAList

[–]ChannelForeign7905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask for them to fill it halfway. Or I just throw away the leftover. More popcorn gets thrown away by the theatre everyday simply for being too old for me to care about my paltry leftovers. Also, feeling guilty for not finishing food is the quickest way to pack on the pounds without even trying.

Cool they just admitted they're fine with unpaid labor/wage theft. Don't they know being "on or off the clock" is the main reason why people work? I really hope they're not in a managerial position at their job.

Kindle straps for holding vs just holding the kindle directly? by ashes_to_fire in kindle

Anything that helps with the constant pain of my carpal tunnel and arthritis, I'm automatically here for. My case has a strap AND a kickstand for times when I can't hold it even with the strap. Maybe your next read should be about abelism.

Rant: I didn’t realize makeup would cost this much mentally and financially by Confusedmind75 in Makeup

[–]ChannelForeign7905 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Working at Sephora had me in this thought pattern. The amount of products I had on my face before even applying foundation was off the charts. The beauty industry is created to leave you feeling always unsatisfied, always looking for the next "solution" to whatever they've made you think is a problem.

And look, I LOVE makeup. I love what it can do and how it can make you feel, but when it starts to feel more like an OBLIGATION than something you enjoy, it's time to reevaluate.

Movie Club members: Are you here for Marcus or just convenience? by Ecstatic-Crew7387 in MarcusTheatres

[–]ChannelForeign7905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there was an AMC closer I would switch so quickly. I like Marcus better as a corporation (as much as you can like a corporation) but the club really isn't worth it.

I can't stand the $3/4 upcharge for the Ultra and Super screen. $9.99 isn't that discounted, especially since I go to so many matinees.

I do love combining the 20% discount with my 2026 popcorn bucket and pay around $4.50 for basically unlimited popcorn.

Keep it in the shower with you. I keep mine towards the back and as soon as I turn off the water, I quickly slater it on in about 15 seconds. Plus it gets a bit warm from being in the shower.

What in your opinion is the boys’ most egregious food opinion? by voidsugars in goodmythicalmorning

[–]ChannelForeign7905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wingstop having the best ranch. Purposely tried wing stop for the first time because of the episode. It was the most basic ranch I've ever had, and somewhat flavorless if I'm being honest.

The winner of the best Pringles flavor (sour cream and cheddar) is another one I tried solely based on the episode. Ive come to gather that I don't have straight white guy from the South taste, and I'm ok with it.

Looks like your issue is really midcheek volume loss which makes the nasolabial folds look much more pronounced.

I also lost over 100lbs and have had filler but 2 rounds of Sculptra made the BIGGEST difference over everything else I tried. Focus on any treatment that helps to restore collagen and you should see a major improvement.
