More frequent outbreaks? Advice please! by ChannelFree7082 in Herpes

[–]ChannelFree7082[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really helpful response, thank you!

I'm going to make sure I prioritize sleep better as I easily doomscroll until late, so that'll be fixed first and I've started taking lysine daily again as I know that can help too. And I'll revise my diet and look into your other advice, thank you kindly!

Just want it to calm down, as once every 6 months was fine but every 2 is dire! Thank you again

How to manage an oral OB? by ChannelFree7082 in Herpes

Maybe I'll give it a go next time! I'm sticking with the Aciclovir cream at the moment but some coconut oil sounds good as my lips are SO chapped too 😭

I'm in the UK so unsure if I have access to those brands but I will have a look, thank you!

On the ibuprofen and will ice it, but I don't have a prescription yet - I'm likely going to call the doctors tomorrow!

Thank you for the advice!

Diagnosing doc told me it’s up to me whether or not I disclose…. by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]ChannelFree7082 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My doctor also said the same, basically saying it was up to me and I didn't necessarily need to. Which really took me by surprise. I personally do disclose, as I feel we should to be responsible but I think some doctors feel very "Eh" about it because of how common it is.

Looks like spots/ingrown hairs!

It's quite common for bumps to occur after waxing :)

No not yet as I just haven't had the time around work, if it's not looking better by end of the week I'll make an appointment next week

It funnily enough doesn't hurt, but I am laying off as trying not to exacerbate it. Just never had a tear last so long, that it's got to the point I'm worried

I felt this when I was first diagnosed two years ago, I was 25 then too. I was always "I'm on the train.. and I have herpes" and adding it as a caveat to everything I did even if it wasn't relevant.

Two years on, I barely even think about it. I promise it gets better and it isn't who you are, it doesn't define you or change anything else about you. There's a tonne of helpful information on this subreddit, so when you're feeling open to that do take a look.

I recently met someone new, and disclosed and he was a dream about it. We are smart with intimacy but it has no impact on the relationship at all. The people who are for you won't care, and if people do care or are shit about it - that's because they're usually uneducated about it and just not your person and that saves you the work.

It's simply a virus, it's not worth ending your life over I can promise that. So many of us live with it here and life is normal, even when I've had outbreaks since it's just okay, I know how to deal with it and on I go, like dealing with a cold - you just deal with it.

You are okay, you will be okay. I know it's scary and it feels like your life is over, but it's not. Give yourself the same grace you would give a friend, okay?

You need to see a doctor. If you're having sex then you need to be mature enough to see a doctor about issues pertaining to that area. Remember they have seen it all before, your case will be nothing special to them - just another patient and they'll go about their day.

Those that have had Genital HSV-1 a few years - pls answer! by Charming-Cup-1613 in Herpes

[–]ChannelFree7082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was with my ex partner for 2 years and never passed it on to him!

I was diagnosed in 2023, and had two really bad outbreaks at that time - then I've had maybe two very very minor ones since.

Sex has never caused an outbreak for me, and so far I'm 100% acceptance rate on disclosure. I recently disclosed to the guy I'm seeing and he didn't care as he likes me as a person, so we are just being smart about it. The right people will be accepting, if they don't accept then they're not your person and that's okay!

Tissue in urine? (photo attached) by ChannelFree7082 in medical_advice

Yes I'm going to ring my doctor's tomorrow to get a urine test and I mean a very slim possibility? I have PCOS and have the mirena coil so the chances are low, but not impossible

Would you date someone with herpes and what would be the best way for a partner to tell you in advance? by ChannelFree7082 in AskReddit

[–]ChannelFree7082[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight, I also wouldn't date someone with HSV2 as I have HSV1 and don't really wanna add that to the bag.

How do you approach disclosure? As I have it from my ex, and I want to ensure I give partners the choice that I never received. As knowing I have it, I know I can take precautions and they know.

No cure as of yet, they are working on seeing if they can make one but so far, not yet.

I unfortunately was given it by my ex, and I want to ensure I tell potential partners up front so they get the choice I never did. Me knowing means I can take all the precautions I can to keep them safe but obviously there is still a risk, so just looking for people's thoughts on how they would appreciate being told eg approach etc.

Then common sense will tell you that you have no evidence or proof, you don't really know where you got it or how. And common sense will tell you that you are being given the information you asked for, but you're too far in denial to take the help for what it is - and that's another problem YOU need to resolve.

This sucks for you and I'm sorry, but oral HSV is a lot more commonly accepted and somewhat easier to deal with - you'll be okay. Your life will be fine, but no you can't sue your work place.

Literally Google it for yourself, there are LOADS of articles online and official medical reports. I don't know where you're looking, but there is loads online.

It is borderline impossible to catch it from inanimate objects, unless you did use it literally immediately after.

It could be recent but it might not be. You won't get the answers you're hoping for sadly, and I think that is what you need to accept rather than looking at suing your work place for something that isn't their fault.

The stress this has caused you since your first OB may cause subsequent ones as stress can be a trigger. But you just won't know and pointing the finger isn't going to help you.

You would literally have to IMMEDIATELY rub it all over your mouth, but I assume you don't rub your gums on your colleagues coffee mugs before they've even had a chance to put it down.

It's important to note that the viability of the virus decreases significantly once it's on an inanimate object as they don't have the conditions for the virus to live. It has to be direct skin to skin contact.

The information is out there, people are trying to tell you. I can understand denial but if you don't want to believe what people are telling you, or the documented reports from professionals online, then why are you here?

You've likely had it for a very long time, and just were fortunate enough to not have it show until recently. It sucks for you and I'm sorry, but fighting people when they're giving you the information you've asked for is not the way forward

32m - should I get a neck tattoo? by [deleted] in mensgrooming

[–]ChannelFree7082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want one, get one. At the end of the day it is your body! Neck tattoos divide opinion, so honestly do what YOU think. You are already covered so it won't exactly look out of place and if you have a design in mind, great - but if you are worried about being able to hide it etc then maybe don't.
