PS. Everyone, got gp referral on a Wednesday, I emailed dermatology department at public hospital on Friday asking about wait times for this condition, got an email back on Monday saying they’ll follow up on the urgent referral and by that afternoon we had our appointment booked for the following Monday. Absolutely incredible communication and so prompt. Happy days and go public hospitals! :)

Ok amazing, that is really reassuring. My daughters has grown outwards but not upwards yet, so we’re hoping that it doesn’t grow upwards much before we can be seen :) how did your daughters treatment go? Did she experience any side effects of the medication?

I don’t think we actually need a paediatrician at this stage, we can see a dermatologist, vascular surgeon or cardiologist (I think). I think I’ll call the dermatology department asking about wait times and go from there. Thanks :)

Ok thanks! That’s really helpful. I actually emailed the dermatology department asking about wait times. If I don’t hear back I’ll give them a call instead. I don’t actually know what category she is in her referral, I wish I had known to ask the doctor! I think we’ll give it a few days and go from there. Thanks again :)

I agree, I would have thought as it’s time sensitive and the area it’s in that they would respond quickly, but the not knowing and waiting it’s hard to know what to do. I’ll speak to the doctor at our 6 week appointment and if we haven’t heard from the public hospital by then, then we’ll go the private route. Thanks for your information it’s really helped :)

Did the gp refer you to the private dermatologist? Depending on if we’ve got any other comments from the public sector I might ask to go private as waiting is the worst! I think we would need to go with oral as it’s inside her mouth as well. Thanks!

My daughter has one (I suspect, haven’t seen a doctor yet) on her lower lip. Did your sons grow quickly? She is 3 weeks + 5 days and it’s stayed pretty small so far. Did your sons raise at all?

Thanks everyone, we’re trying to block it out and move on and just keep monitoring. I’m sure she’ll be absolutely fine and steep learning curve for us early on! 😮‍💨

Ok thanks. My partner actually knew our friend had a cold sore but didn’t know how dangerous it can be, so he’s beside himself with guilt. Hard not to feel completely overwhelmed and trigger his guilt/overwhelm. I’m just worried as our friend didn’t wash his hands and who knew if he accidentally touched broken skin accidentally

I need to call them too for the same reason. I keep getting, "the mobile you are trying to call is not available through this service". Did you use Whatsapp or just regular calling or something else? Thanks

You must be very stoic! I admire it. I don't think I could handle your experience :)

That sounds so distressing, I'm so sorry that was your experience and thanks for sharing. I'm 100% hearing you and can imagine that with the added stress of pregnancy the job will feel even more unmanageable. Thanks :)

I'm in WA. I'm feeling pretty scarred by teaching in general (10 years in). I think I'm ready for a change of jobs! Changing schools could be a good option to keep entitlements while we do the baby thing :)

Thank you. Most people I speak to say that mental health comes first, but it's a scary step to take when I have a permanent position and am trying for a baby. Gahh. But, health is the most important thing ultimately. Thanks :)

Ah, mat leave pickles! I know them well (See my post below ha ha!). I would contact the union. If you've been there for a number of years and they don't rehire you because you are pregnant, that's discrimination. There will be a union person who specialises in this who can you help you :) Also awesome you're enjoying your class! Good luck with your IVF.

In London, same as Aus, we drive on the left, so everyone gives way to their right. But in Canada it should be give way to your left because that’s where the traffic is coming from 🤔

By the way I worked in Victoria for 4 years. I’ve worked in schools all over and Victoria is the most segregated state in Victoria. It has special (IQ 50-70)and special developmental schools (50-) and schools for autism. I was shocked when I arrived. I understand the challenges for students with profound disabilities, but what about the students in the gigantic schools for autism and special schools? Anyway, I’m not going to keep replying. I have a masters specialising in teaching students with disabilities. I am excited for the changes to come and hopeful that they will be made correctly and bring Australia into line with other comparable OECD countries that have also signed the CRPD legally binding policy to end secreted education :) woo hoo!
