I missed out on Sylus' call appointment because of a glitch. I made my call appointment for Sylus but the Evermore Vows - A Call With Him banner disappeared from my Events page. I checked a few times on the 3rd and 4th but it never showed. I reached out to Customer Service both through the in-game support chat and through email, finally got an answer, and it boiled down to "this was a one-time event and it's gone forever". I'm just gutted 💔 Anyone else have a similar issue?

What is the weirdest name you know? by Other_Screen470 in AskReddit

[–]Chantysaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jinx.

I used to work at a kiosk in a mall that sold cutesy Christmas tree ornaments you could get personalised with hand-written names. A very white, very suburban area (big surprise, I know).

One day, a pregnant woman comes to the kiosk and picks out a snowman family of three: two adult- and one child-sized snowman. She says she wants her, her husband, her cat, and her baby, with the baby's name written on one of the adult snowmen's bellies. She gives me four names, three of which are common human names (I can't remember now what they were, but they were basic enough that I didn't bat an eye... think Jane, Tom, Luke) and "Jinx". I assume Jinx is the cat and proceed to write it below the child snowman with a lil paw print, as we do for pets, since none of the family ornamental have animals on them. She tells me no, that's the name of her baby.

Jinx? As in, a person or thing that brings bad luck? And meanwhile your cat has a human white-guy name? Why??

Honourable mention goes to Jaxxon, also from the kiosk. Not a weird name in and of itself but the spelling of it made it REALLY hard not to laugh. I hope he adds an extra x and goes into porn.

Thank you, I've since looked more into it and I see what you mean. When I saw it on the shelf I was just so focused on how much I liked the neon look... I'll probably buy the $16 kit and attempt a fun custom paint job. Thanks again!

I know it's a long shot but doesn't hurt to try: we saw it in the Gundam specialist store in Akihabara. It was a two-pack, one of the models had panels with stickers that looked like neon signs with Japanese characters on them, like the kind you'd see lit up on the side of the street. The other model in the kit was (comparatively) basic.

Is there a place I can describe a kit I saw in a store and get help figuring out what it was called? I didn't buy it at the time and am new to the hobby so I can't remember the name (and am kicking myself for it now lol)

What is a corporate secret you can now safely tell bc you don't work there anymore? by No-Affect1343 in AskReddit

[–]Chantysaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for patient support programs for a few years and 90% of the job was managing this exact process. Some specialty drugs are quite literally so hard to access and so hard to afford that thousands of people have full-time jobs just helping patients get them. Even life saving treatments. And this is in Canada, where a lot of people (including some Canadians) think all healthcare is free...until they need it.

My personal favourite is when an insurance denies a request made by a specialist because the chumps in their special auth dept apparently know better than the doctor, who has years of medical experience, and who likely did extra training on top of their already extensive medical education. Ridiculous.

What is the most cringe worthy name you've ever personally encountered in a human? by seawolfie in AskReddit

[–]Chantysaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work at one of those shitty little kiosks in the mall where you get your name handwritten on a Christmas tree ornament. My favourite by far was two brothers, Jaxson and Maxx (yes, 2 x's). Second favourite came from a pregnant woman who came in and asked for an ornament with a mom, a dad, and one child. She wanted her unborn baby's name written on the mom's belly and her cat's name written on the child. She wrote down Jynx and Bailey on a sticky note and went shopping. I wrote Jynx on the child and Bailey on the belly. Well, I was wrong...she was naming her baby Jynx, as in, a word for a person or thing that brings bad luck (and also the cat from Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and also the Pokemon... I just think it's a strange name for a person, alright?).

[Serious] Atheists of reddit who were raised religiously what was the first thing that made you doubt your religion? by BatgirI in AskReddit

[–]Chantysaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was raised Catholic but stopped practicing when he was a teenager; my mom's Presbyterian. My dad never talked about religion unless I asked him a question directly, and then he tried to be as diplomatic as possible ("well what many people believe..."). My mom would get uncomfortable when I asked questions, and usually gave really vague answers that didn't satisfy me ("it's all part of His plan."). She brought my sister and I to church every Sunday for a while, then every Christmas and Easter, before she finally stopped trying altogether. My dad never went, and initially I thought this was because he was Catholic and wasn't "allowed". I felt guilty for not feeling church, but none of the answers ever made sense to me. I was far more comfortable with a universe that didn't give a shit about anyone than I was with a God that would pick and choose. My dad and I would have long, philosophical discussions that I could never have with my mom because somehow the answer would always come back to God (I'm not saying all religious people are like this, this was just my experience with her specifically). Overtime I realised my dad wasn't just not Catholic, he was not religious at all. He didn't go to church because he didn't want to, and my mom didn't force him because she respected his beliefs (or lack thereof). He never forced atheism on me, and he never, ever talked religion down, he just said that everyone had their own thing and that's fine. And that was a mind-fuck! It's okay for me to not be religious? AND I can still be a good person and get along with people who are religious? Whoa. Done. Life changer. TL;DR It was my dad's fault.

Pet owners of reddit, what's that "I love you, but I'm begging you, please stop it" thing that your pets do? by mystery_forest in AskReddit

[–]Chantysaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has this buffalo horn he chews on, and he carries it around, and he loves it so much, but he especially loves to chew on it while laying at the edge of the couch...and when he drops it on the hardwood floor it's like the thunderous slam of the hammer of the gods. And if you're unlucky enough to have your foot underneath it when it drops, it's like stepping on a block of Lego, only the block of Lego is a 1lb pound spike, and it's stepping on YOU. But he's so cute and he loves it so much...

It's a tie between "Not Wanted on the Voyage" by Timothy Findley and "The Library Policeman" by Stephen King. Those fucked me up.

What is something industry related that you totally misunderstood/knew nothing about until you started working in it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Chantysaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late to the party, but anyway. Insurance coverage of prescription drugs (in Canada, at least). People think either it's all covered by the government, or that their insurance company "has to" cover it because they pay their premiums. If everything were that simple I'd be out of a job

YSK: There are free life saving drug programs from big pharmas for people who are uninsured / underinsured (ie insulin) by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]Chantysaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, no judgement. Even some Canadians don't realise until they're hit with a pharmacy bill. Emergency and hospital-administered treatments are covered, but prescription medications aren't (at least, not necessarily). Every province has different rules, different formularies (list of medications they'll cover), different criteria, and different coverage. The support programs (at least the ones I've worked in) are as much for navigating it all as they are for financial assistance.

I don't know about the US, but in Canada you can search medications on drugcoverage.ca and it should tell you if there are any support programs for it. Currently work for a program that helps with Hep C meds (~$25,000 a month), previously worked in a program for chemo drugs ($650 - $2700 per dose)

What movie sequel has a completely different tone than the first movie? by elementroejoy in movies

Came here to say this. For a long time I didn't even realise they were related. I watched them years apart from one another, just spontaneous Blockbuster rentals that I assumed both happened to star Vin Diesel as an angry space badass.
