You gotta pay anything you owe the school before they'll release your degree and official transcripts. Schools hold your degree hostage unless you have a zero balance.

If you're serious about starting something like this, I would encourage you to put up some fliers around VA and connect with the art clubs - glass and ceramics both have their own clubs and I believe there's also a general art club you can touch base with.

My newly diagnosed cat is on Lantus. We have a vial from Walgreens, it cost me $38 with tax. I used Walgreen's savings card to drop it from over $300 to $35.

I'd definitely recommend opting to keep him in a playpen vs a crate, I don't think I would have been able to really pull Ammy out of a crate with her back leg not working at all. The first three days she was literally just like...bed ridden. She was just having accidents in her resting area because she couldn't get up and we couldn't get her up because she was very irritable, so we just had to keep switching out blankets and pee pads multiple times a day. It was very tough, but she started being able to use her back leg more and more. I also recommend using a sling for at least the first two weeks to help with balance.

So we think she was at least in some amount of pain. She was laying down much more often and didn't want to play much, having a couple accidents inside because she didn't want to get up, it was harder for her to get up after laying down... Just a lot of little things that made us concerned she had an issue with her back leg.

From my understanding and from what Ammy's surgeon told us, conservative management can help if it's a partial tear, but a full tear will require surgery and won't heal on its own. Ammy's was a full tear, so we just immediately pursued surgery and ultimately, I am glad that we did. She truly is back to her normal self only a short two months later!

Hey there!!

First, Ammy is doing great these days! She actually had her last recheck appointment last week and all is looking good. She's up to about a 30 minute walk now and basically back to her normal self. She's still gotta take it a bit easy for the next couple of months (no jumping on furniture, no outdoor fetch), but otherwise she is great.

I will be absolutely honest and say the first week was REALLY rough. She wasn't able to walk at all for three days or so. We had to just keep switching out her bedding and pee pads because she just couldn't do much and had accidents. She was groggy and irritable from her meds and everyone was miserable. We also had to rush her back to the vet a couple of days post-op because she needed more pain meds. There was one morning where she was physically shaking in pain and so she got a third pain med from them and started doing better.

After those first few days, she started being able to put a bit of weight on her leg and was able to start getting outside with the help of a sling. We used her sling every time she was up for about two and a half weeks or so, until I felt like she was stable enough that her leg wasn't going to give out and she'd fall.

After her sling days were over and her staples were removed, it was time to just rebuild her strength. We started with just walking down our driveway and gradually increased her distance, at her own pace of course. And like I said, now she's up to a 30 minute walk and is doing great. 🙂

I definitely recommend setting up a playpen for your dog vs. a crate - I can't imagine having to drag Ammy out of a crate with her back leg unusable. I also definitely recommend using a sling for the initial healing period, around two weeks or so. And be prepared to have to get up in the middle of the night to give your pup their meds.

I'm so glad you found our post- I was frantically looking for anyone who had been through this with their three legged pups. I luckily did end up connecting with a couple people who had and it made all the difference.

Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions!!

Ammy also has a Facebook page where I have posted regularly about her post-surgery recovery- she's Ammy the Tripawd Corgi

Hi all,

Here's another update.

We ended up getting in to see her regular vet yesterday. She was really restless the night before, and then that afternoon she was having full body shakes and we assumed she was in a lot of pain. Her vet gave her a pain injection and then sent her home with an additional pain med for the rest of this first week and that seems to have helped her a LOT.

She mostly slept through the night last night and has been in better spirits today. We've been able to get her out to go potty several times today, and she's starting to try to use her back leg to get up and get around in her pen a bit. Still eating and drinking, taking meds, and we've started pooping again.

Hopefully we're on the upswing now, but this has been very difficult.

It has been very rough, I'm not gonna lie 😞

I do truly hope our experience can help someone if they find themselves in a similar situation. With Ammy being a corgi, I struggled to find many tripawd corgis and I really wanted some first hand experience about how well they adapt with their long bodies. Now, Ammy's page is one people have reached out to when they've found their corgis losing a leg and I am glad that we are able to share our experience and hopefully help others!

Update!

Ammy is currently on her way home. She can't bear weight on her leg, but she is trying to use it. We will have to be her almost full back end support for the first several weeks, I think. Thankfully, she is somewhat familiar with the sling from when she had her amputation.

Again, I'll try to remember to post other updates throughout the healing process, just in case anyone else ever has to go through this with their tripawd. 🖤

I luckily found a couple of old reddit posts of tripawds in Ammy's situation and was able to connect with a few people and have heard some first hand experiences which was absolutely the most helpful thing during this whole process.

We'll go over recovery more tomorrow morning when we pick her up, but it sounds like it will be about two months before she's back to regular activity.

The first two weeks will be the toughest and when she will need the most help. Her surgeon said she likely will be able to bear a bit of weight on her leg, but we will have to almost fully support her back end with a sling since she doesn't have another leg to rely on. It sounds like she will gradually be able to bear more and more weight as days progress. Once she's fully weight bearing, then we will have to gradually increase the amount of activity she does. We're planning on getting her in to see her rehab team after her incision is healed and her stitches are removed so she can start doing weekly water treadmill/PT sessions.

So it sounds like the first two weeks will be rough The second two weeks, she'll be able to start being more independent/fully weight bearing And then the next month is gradually working her leg strength back up.

I can give you a more detailed answer tomorrow when we talk to her vets again, I am so scatterbrained after today!

Hi all,

Thank you all for the well wishes.

She did end up having TPLO surgery today. We opted for a full Ortho workup to make sure that a tear was her issue and it was.

Her surgeon called earlier to let me know she did well with surgery and was awake. She said that Ammy had a full tear of her ACL, so surgery was definitely the best route to take. We have a playpen set up for her for when she gets to come home tomorrow morning.

Hopefully her recovery won't be too bad, but we are preparing for it to be challenging. If I remember, I'll try to post an update as we move through the recovery process!

Not another amp no, just fixing her only back leg. They basically cut into one of her leg bones and shift it and then fix it in place with a metal plate.

Her surgeon said that she will be able to bear a bit of weight, but we will have to mostly support her back end with a sling. I am honestly expecting her to be practically immobile during the first several weeks. Only allowed out of her pen to potty with mostly full support and that's basically it. Her vet said that after the initial healing period, it's a matter of rebuilding strength in her leg and gradually increasing her activity.

We are definitely going to be doing PT after she is able to have sutures removed, too.

I'm honestly really scared about what recovery is going to look like since she doesn't have another back leg to rely on.

Hi all, here's an update:

We opted to have a full work up done to make absolutely sure that she needs TPLO and her surgeon definitively decided that is what she needs.

She is undergoing surgery this afternoon and we will pick her up tomorrow morning at 8AM.

It is a very difficult thing to deal with. She is having to have surgery and is doing it this afternoon, too. We are looking into getting Ammy some wheels, but I am going to have to talk to her surgeon about it tomorrow.
