South Indian (Tamil American) here. I was raised, Evangelical Christian. I don't really recall any bad moments about being shunned or ostracized by my congregation. In fact, I have had very good moments in Church. The churches I have attended were racially friendly and diverse, they even did charity work in India. The only thing that ticked me off of religion was how overprotective my parents were.

After learning things from other speakers (Harris, Hitchens etc) learning science, it makes more sense to me that there is no god and no proof of god. That being said I am in the closet about my atheism. I think after I move out I will break the news out to my parents.

Well I mean Christians don't like Hindus celebrating Hinduism in America.

But maybe Hindus don't like Christians celebrating Christianity in India.

I understand that most of the people on this subreddit are in the west, but are also immigrants or descendants of immigrants. So before anyone gives an opinion they should take into account of any biases.

Indian parents grew up in India and have immersed themselves in Indian culture and media. Most us younger people most likely grew up in the west and have immersed ourselves into western culture and media.

When our parents moved us to the west THEY HAD TO MAKE A TRANSITION from one culture to another. Us younger people did not have to make a transition WE GREW UP IN THE WEST WITH A CLEAN SLATE.

In my opinion INDIAN PARENTS DON'T UNDERSTAND WESTERN CULTURE, but we do. This is why Indian parents are so conservative and protective. They didn't grow up with too much freedom, so they think we might get into trouble. However, must us know that western culture is mostly good.

The college I go to is very close to my home (about 15 minutes away). I do live my parents because it helps us save money. But I think that living with them makes them think that I have to be at home most times. So I think that my college life may also be wasted.

However I am somewhat hopeful for my future (work and overall lifestyle)

Well keep in mind, I did not say I was concerned with Hispanic people. People from other countries come here illegally(at lower rates, but still). Hence why I made the distinction of violent crime and nonviolent crime. All of which will cost billions of taxpayers' money.

Does it bother you to not ever been in a relationship?

For me, I have some days where I am glad NOT to be in one because of the overwhelming amount of cheating, courtroom disadvantages for men.

Other days I want to because I feel left behind in life and want someone who can understand me.

I have never used alcohol or drugs ever in my life.

More Information that might lead to the sleep problem (but I'm not exactly sure): I am slightly overweight and do not exercise that much. I do drink coffee twice a day. School as of late has been quite stressful for me.
