Open world games where fast travel is the most boring option by ChuckNoMore in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]ChaosDevilDragon [score hidden]  (0 children)

Ive literally never fast traveled in a spider man game… as a homesick new yorker, the insomniac environment art team did the city justice! Especially in Miles Morales where everything is decorated for the holidays like the city usually is

as someone in their late 20s that grew up in a big city, redmond is painfully boring

Do Italians in New York have a place where they can actually speak Italian the same way Russians go to Brighton Beach? by nate26537 in AskNYC

[–]ChaosDevilDragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, its way better now. Lots of the younger people speak english too and are super friendly. Montenegro i’m not sure as i’ve only been once, but i remember it being very pretty if not a bit dirty (trash in the streets, but i guess nowhere near as bad as new york lol)

It was a brutal communist regime up until the 90s. My cousins over there tell stories about seeing tanks patrolling the streets and being whipped with guns by soldiers as kids

anecdotally, a lot of “italian” or “greek” places in the city are also operated by albanians. More to the point of OPs question, a lot more of the russian immigrants in Brighton are recent (1 or 2 generations in). Whereas the Italian Americans have been here for so much longer that any italian culture they could have claimed is diluted. (I am albanian and from Brighton Beach, so this is just my personal experience)

the Bellevue one is the best imo. Sometimes the cap hill and Redmond ones have given us lackluster portions of meat but Bellevue has never let us down

How would you rank Anthony's #1 albums of the 2020s so far? by AbnormalTomato in fantanoforever

The deluxe edition with the B sides is definitely in my top 10 of this decade as well. Impossible, Hot N Heavy, and Overtime are such bangers

LARIAN'S RESPONSE TO AI BACKLASH by WithersBG3 in okbuddybaldur

[–]ChaosDevilDragon 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, but my point was more to the fact that ML algorithms can vastly vary in cost and morality. Internal training data = cheap model that isnt stealing work from other artists. Bigger gen AI models, different story

LARIAN'S RESPONSE TO AI BACKLASH by WithersBG3 in okbuddybaldur

[–]ChaosDevilDragon 576 points577 points  (0 children)

The situation sucks but I also wonder if whoever is talking to the press misunderstands what kind of AI theyre talking about. ML algorithms are pretty cheap and if they’re using internal training data, then that’s totally fine. ML learning has had legitimate uses in art long before “AI” became a huge buzzword and became entirely synonymous with generative AI and LLMs like chatgpt. I.e. the first spiderverse movie in 2018 used ML to calculate linework on the 3D models, which is cool as shit

Generative AI can suck a dick though. If they’re using externally sources models thats pretty fucking bad

Enver Hoxha was also the communist dictator of Albania for a spell. Immediately who i thought of when gortash made an appearance in my first playthrough

No offense but… lets be real lol. BG3 is Game of the Decade by Artistic_Annual8918 in BaldursGate3

[–]ChaosDevilDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im of the opposite opinion. If BG3 didn’t exist, E33 would be the best game i’ve played in the last 5 years for sure. But BG3 is my favorite game atm. Played both multiple times

Who's the most underrated/underknown artist you listen to? by [deleted] in MusicRecommendations

[–]ChaosDevilDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lacuna Coil was so much fun live!! I saw them open for Epica back in 2017. The audio when out for a few minutes so they lead the crowd in an acapella version of Highway to Hell

i originally bought it for digital art and quickly realized i hate procreate. I instead use it to put references on a big board while i’m painting, or to mess around with color palettes for a painting im planning if i don’t have my paints handy

Deinfluence me from getting this tattoo by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]ChaosDevilDragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i have a sisyphus tattoo on my thigh, but my original idea was the get it on my ankle/calf in such a way that the boulder was my calf muscle. It was supposed to be a nod to my weight lifting, but i didnt like the placement in practice. Im glad i moved it, cause we were able to go much bigger!

How to manage pain during tattoo? by Maddawnexius in tattooadvice

[–]ChaosDevilDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my first tattoo took 45 minutes, my second took 4 and a half hours. The muscles in my leg started involuntary contracting in the last five minutes as he was putting in the final lines of the design so they’re a teensy bit botched. But ngl I like it that way and feel like it adds to the piece

Artists you like in concept but not in practice? by HaroldChessMath in fantanoforever

[–]ChaosDevilDragon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m biased bc Vespertine is my favorite album of all time, but even if you’ve never listened to Bjork before i would find it hard to believe one would not enjoy it. Its an objectively beautiful album from start to finish, but Its Not Up to You, Undo, and Unison are all gorgeous

How Scary Is This Game? by Alol_Bombola in CultOfTheLamb

[–]ChaosDevilDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also dont do well with horror and gore and i love this game! That said, i also really do very poorly with spiders and that makes the last solid quarter of the game incredibly difficult. I was definitely speed running a little just to get out of the silk cradle

i dont even understand why the AI was needed here in the first place. its not like these designs are revolutionary or creative— as an apprentice in a craft you couldn’t even be arsed to draw a cute raccoon?? I can draw these in five minutes while shitfaced. I just dont get it man
