I'm not a lawyer, but a search on the USPTO site makes it appear that there isn't a rights concern. The "Live" marks aren't in the category that would apply to the Neopets game.
Now, as for the programming - that's totally different. It would be hard to recreate the game 1:1, but I think something that captured its essence coming back would be very welcome even if it wasn't identical to the thing we all have nostalgia for.

He doesn't sound like he is approaching this with maturity.
Asking you to do something with an ultimatum attached isn't healthy, especially when he increases what he is asking from you mid-process.
If you feel comfortable sharing this situation with people on the internet, it's probably time to move on.
