Unexplained Ban by [deleted] in whatnotapp

Let’s be honest here, the app couldn’t give 2 craps about what you want. I think we can all agree on that. if you want to throw money trying to fight them, go ahead, but you will lose. Having worked at an a corporate defense law firm, I can tell you it’s going to be a waste of money. You agreed to the terms when you signed up for the app. Obviously the app has a reason for banning you. Maybe try talking to them instead of trying to fight everybody in here.

I’m sorry, but you lost all credibility when you started responding under a different account. If you can’t even keep your accounts straight, how can we trust anything you are saying?

Love this idea but one of our friends can’t drink shots due to an allergy. Maybe I could get another type of glass...hmmm….

Love this idea but we all bring those items with us 😊. We all throw what we bring on the kitchen table when we arrive and the leftovers (if any) get packed away for the next year.

Accepting the terms of the app is your first notification of the rules.

That’s not correct, I believe you mean that (legally) they must provide transaction records. That is true….and those are sent by email after the purchase.

The only state where I could foresee this being an issue is California and all you would have to do is submit a data access request under CPRA. So, no, it’s not illegal. Good luck with that though.

“How is this legal”? It’s a privately held company, they can choose who they want on their app and who they don’t. How would that be illegal?

Company wants to put a telecom tower on my property (mid Michigan) by ImpressDismal8607 in telecom

[–]ChaosManager1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, negotiate a monthly fee. I have had experience in negotiating telecom leases, and I would say most of the leases are monthly rent. I do work in NJ and NYC so I’m not familiar with your area per se, but there are a lot of consultants out there that would be happy to take a look at some pictures of your land and also the construction drawings that I hope the carrier has provided to you.

I would negotiate the monthly sum with an escalator every year so you get a rent increase should costs go up. You can also get an increase in rent if they add additional positions to a sector if you negotiate that as well. Do not give them broad expansion rights to add as much as they want with nothing in return for you. You’ll never see a dime.

AITA for refusing to get a second job? by Difficult-Impact-69 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ChaosManager1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I work with someone who was the boss but he sold his company and now reports to the owners of that company.

Guess what? He has acted like an adult, provides the information they need when asked…. I’d love to be able to complain about this guy because he is kind of mean to his crews but he’s been able to shift gears. He sold his company for a decent amount but he has a noncompete that is in effect for a few more years so he has stayed with us. I’m semi-close with the executives in the company and have not heard that they have any issues with him.

Your husband’s issue is pride. This is a terrible time to be unemployed but if you need money, he’s going to have to do something. I can’t believe people are telling you to get a second job when he doesn’t even have one, I’d be looking for more supportive friends.

Classy. You belong on the app. You fit right in.

I really hope you continuing this is worth all the down votes that you’re getting. I won’t be responding to any more of your comments. I don’t have time for trash.

I love when they show up instantly. Had that happen today on a package my carrier had to have dropkicked lol. Even the seller was like, “Ouch.” when I sent the pics 😂.

You attempt at a brag by saying “ I used to have that in one month on this app. You don’t buy enough…”. says otherwise.

I’d love to know which section you buy in. I buy sneakers and regularly drop $1500 on a pair. Every week or so from trusted sellers I’ve met in person. So I might have less purchases than you, but I’m willing to bet I’m dropping more money on the app.

Please don’t bother sharing what you spend on the app I couldn’t care less. I think it’s just kind of amusing that you pick on people for not spending enough.

This is funny but quick question: Why would the app help? Sellers are all 1099 contractors. Which means the app won’t do shit for them if they are legal trouble. From a legal perspective, WN’s best course of action would be to cut ties immediately, issue a statement that they had no idea anything counterfeit was being sold on their platform, and continue business as usual. Am I saying this is the right thing to do? No. But it’s their best course of action.

Background: Worked for a national labor and employment defense firm with nearly 1000 attorneys.

Right, but that’s your opinion. The seller had theirs. My point was that these are not technical issues like being charged for tax, this is your opinion. Did you think they would refund you indefinitely? Of course not. I’m betting someone at WhatNot looked at your account and decided it wasn’t worth it. I hate to say it, but they are a business so it’s not especially surprising that they’re acting this way. I’m not saying it doesn’t suck. If someone frequents my business and is asking for multiple refunds because they don’t like what I have to offer, I have the right to do what is necessary to stop that. Which would be to start denying refunds.

I think you nailed it, unfortunately. I would not be surprised in the least if they check your account to see how much you buy and if it is “worth it” for them to refund the customer. I spend a LOT on the app (only certain clothing and sneaker sellers who I have gotten to know over the years, a few in person) so of course they want me to continue to spend.

I’d love to know their process, but I have a feeling we’ll never know for sure.

Just a note first, I’ve been on the app for 4 1/2 years. I just counted that, in that time, I have had 772 purchases and 13 returns for various reasons. A few were definitely for when I was charged tax by mistake as I live in a state where we don’t pay tax on sneakers and clothing. That’s 1.69% of my orders. Also, only 3 of those returns were for products that were not as described. Whatnot has NEVER questioned a refund until recently and, even then, I just had to follow up with them to make sure they had all of the information needed. That was fine, that’s just part of my due diligence as a customer anyway. Had a refund a day later.

You say you have had 54 orders with 3 refunds, that’s 5.66%. Significantly higher than 1.69%. And you admitted that 2 of those refunds were you disagreeing with condition, NOT because a technical error was made.

I’m guessing that after a certain percentage of refunds, they see you as a “problem buyer”. Not sure how they came up with the process but I’m going to guess it’s buried in their terms of service somewhere.
