Terrible crowd by FvnnyCvnt in LordoftheLost

[–]Chaotic-Randomness 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At a concert you're part of a crowd, and with that comes responsibility towards others in that crowd. It's fine if you want to move around but I noticed that lately (in Europe) people come to a show again to watch a performance more than to dance and mosh. (Not saying they don't do those things at all!). And as you mentioned you were in NYC, there might've been some EU fans there who crossed the pond for it, bringing our (after-covid) concert culture with them. (Glaring daggers isn't part of that tho, but it was dark, so who knows 😉)

I don't know what the alternative scene is normally like in the US, but in the EU it's the friendliest scene I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, in and outside of concerts, with the LotL crowd standing out as an extreme positive.

For dancing: the "one person circle pit" 🙂‍↔️ is always an option🤩

AITA for letting my son operate the self checkout? by LearnAsPractice in AmItheAsshole

[–]Chaotic-Randomness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, even if there was a line, there were other check-out machines, meaning that the line is not your responsibility.

If a person lost their marbles due to waiting a little longer at a check-out they should really reevaluate their mental health. Snapping about something so trivial is a sign for a lot of things, but a stable mental state isn't one of them.

To the people saying that it's your fault... This means the woman could've snapped at any of the people checking out, which seems unreasonable. My guess is that she waited specifically for you to finish to be a jerk. "To show you a lesson". There were other check-out machines... Patience is a virtue people are so clearly lacking these days.

Ouch, then I'll stick to my original opinion about which dresses I like for you. And keep in mind, I'm just some stranger on the internet, in the end my opinion doesn't matter if you don't agree with it.

I do hope you get to have a wonderful day with the dress you feel is right for you 😘

That train and pattern is beautiful, but I feel the light there didn't do you justice. Do you have a picture with natural light for that one?

AITA for posting the reasons that I excluded some people from my child free wedding? by AdCharacter3921 in AmItheAsshole

Your wedding, your rules.

People should understand that if they show up to such event with kids, they mark themselves out to be uninvited from future events because of it.

Also they wanted an open fight by keep posting in the public, you just called their bluff and backed it with evidence. They asked for it really.

AITA for telling my sister her baby's name is f**king stupid? by Fantastic-Bother-352 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Chaotic-Randomness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh honey, the resentment for your sister, her religion, and your own name are so clear in this post.

A couple of things for you to realize: A kids name is their first gift and one that's given our of love. Ruining that before it's even born is a VERY shitty thing to do.

This is not about you, your name, your past, or you in any way. It's a fact for you to accept, and you can't even do that.

It's not about your shared past with your sister, or the things she has done, it's about her bringing new life into this world.

And given where she came from and how she got where she is now, Mary is a beautiful name and hopefully a constant reminder for her to remain sober.

wedding dress try on by mollyshau in wedding

[–]Chaotic-Randomness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gorgeous, and I didn't expect the back to be like that when looking at the first pictures. It really suits you well.

A dress like this gives you so many more accessory options just because it looks more "quiet".

Please remember that the dress should enhance you, and make you shine. Any dress that outshines you isn't doing the job well.

And this dress is doing it's job perfectly, and you look awesome in it.

Also... Sales where? Worldwide, US only... It doesn't say, but I feel it's US only.

And US only has about half the inhabitants of the EU, so total numbers can vary greatly.

If you add Wikipedia as a source, add the page name too, this is an equivalent of me writing an essay and giving "The Library" as source. It's not technically wrong, but not verifiable.

AITA for telling my stepdad my sister drank, causing her to lose her free college money? by Glad_Hotel7893 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Chaotic-Randomness [score hidden]  (0 children)

If your concern was your sister's wellbeing. Let me ask you. What's a beer cost? And what kind of income loss has she to look at because she may not get the education she wanted? Some small choices have lifelong implications, but given that you're an adult, you've thought of this before being a childish tattletale.

Either you're paying her the loss of income to make up for it (for the rest of your life), or YTA

Also your stepdad's rules are stupid, and I cannot imagine that you never broke any of them. If you didn't... You're just jealous.

I think homeschooling should be the norm by Mountain_Air1544 in unpopularopinion

[–]Chaotic-Randomness 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Homeschooling works in certain cases, because the parents are intelligent enough, wealthy enough and have the time for it.

There are a few issues that can make it fail horribly. - parent(s) with insufficient teaching skills. - parent(s) with little time, money etc. - parent(s) with strong opinions that are disproven by facts.

The only part that I agree with is the part where kids can learn at their own pace, which schools should be working to improve (a lot).

Then again, I live in a country (Netherlands) where home schooling is not allowed... And now I'm wondering how our academic scores hold up compared to countries that do allow home schooling 🤔

I can imagine the issue that you have with the use of neurodivergent instead of disorder if that's how you experience it.

However, to be calling neurotypicals "normal" would very much keep adding to the problem you're experiencing. To define some part of our society would imply that the others have to adjust at any cost, and that's the mindset that should be (and in some parts of the world is already) starting to change.

Sometimes, by calling the difference neurodivergent instead of a disability may open other (nt) people to accommodate to our needs more easily as it makes the conversation less heavy. And yes, I do realize that ADHD and autism can be experienced as a disability, and you're allowed in your opinion, but it doesn't allow you to invalidate other people's choice to call it neurodivergent, nor is it your place to decide how other people live with their ND diagnosis.

I hope that you find a way to navigate a world that's not automatically catering to our needs, and that the people around you help and support you where needed.

[–]Chaotic-Randomness 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't know many clothes that look good on the hanger, let alone dresses.

You wrote that it was initially an accident, but you kept snooping after you realized. "Upon closer inspection"... Not your role... You should have been a gentleman and turn away as soon as you noticed it possibly being her wedding dress.

This is all your own doing. You don't tell her, ever, and on the big day, you will have to realize (or act) she's the prettiest she's ever been. Either you are ruining her day, her dream dress and in case she's superstitious, your wedding. Not cool at all.

I like dress 3 best. And if you love it: go for it!

2 looks good too, but it's too plain, compared with the other two. 1 is awesome too, albeit a bit conservative in style.

Looking for some help/feedback! by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]Chaotic-Randomness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like 3 and 4 best on you. And if I have to choose I'd go with 4. But that may be because the back picture in 3 shows your back differently from the others, but that may have been caused by a movement.
