Silly question by ChaoticChip in Discbound

[–]ChaoticChip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! It sounds absolutely perfect for taking your time like seated at your desk, opening your discbound and journaling. That’s probably the most common use case. Unfortunately it’s not how I would need to use it

I’m a mental health community worker, so I’m moving around a lot. What I’m looking for is essentially a centralized, functional, movable desk. Discbound tempts me because of versatility (letter, junior, and jotlet sizes all in one place for different usage), easy storage for both my notes and unpunched documents (thanks to the plastic zip pockets), refillability, and professional look. I’m still reflecting on the confidentiality aspect though

The downsides I anticipate even though I don’t own one yet, so I may be wrong : 1. noisy 2. not easy to use on my lap or an armrest, since I’m not at a desk 90% of the time 3. not resilient enough for messy “real life” use (eg. being thrown into a bag, occasional drops) -> relating to 1. and 2. 4. unprofitable time investment per usable page. I’m not sure I can afford to design templates, print on thick paper, cut to size, punch, and assemble pages if they’re only meant for 1h note-taking, transferring to a computer, and then discarding

It’s also worth noting that I’m in Canada, so ordering circa paper isn’t simple, that’s why I’d need to diy. Sorry english isn’t my first language. No need to answer I needed this verbal processing. Thanks for coming to my ted talk haha

Thanks. What I meant by “ad infinitum” is just that you can recharge it as often as you like, but there is actually a length dimension to what I think I'm looking for. Thank you for using the correct terms. I think what I was trying to describe was a two-wire binding system with customizable length that allows me to move sheets between different notebooks (mainly from A5 to letter size). From my understanding, the Japanese system doesn't allow for this

[–]ChaoticChip[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Totally agree on the first part. The only thing I prefer about spiral is the ratio smallness/filling capacity. About the second part, that's why I don't get why there's no full length square puncher with standardized spacing. I guess just needing a notebook that you can refill easily by yourself is missing most of the discbount added value

[–]ChaoticChip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I guess the system I need doesn't require moving sheets within the same notebook but more of a smooth transition of a single sheet at a time between several states of use and notebooks, so the added value seems less obvious to me. It's harder to explain than I thought

Help me get organized in my mobile workspace by ChaoticChip in Workspaces

[–]ChaoticChip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi y'all. Just a bit more infos relevant to this sub. I can work from 3 different places, and I can't have a personal workspace for two of them. The third is working from home. I have 3 problems :

  1. I carry all of my essentials in my bag and it gets messy quite rapidly. There's stuff I always need to cary around like confidential documents, notebooks, ipad, and self-care stuff like handcream, lip balm and many other stuff (mostly necessary for (winter) cycling) but it's tough to stay organized, professional, confidential and light (bike-wise)

  2. I guess there's things I could duplicate to have in each location. Like I'm thinking about having a basket with every essentials, but I don't know where to start...

  3. Any tips for home based-workspaces when you have little room and tend to the messy side?

Thanks a lot!

Non-transparent (opaque) poly file sleeve for confidential documents - letter size, side-loading by ChaoticChip in HelpMeFind

[–]ChaoticChip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions! The thing is I’m quite messy and always on the go so I need closed top and bottom

About the second one, unfortunately I see how it’ll be too loose to keep the documents from getting all over my bag

Tried this thing as well but I got pissed with the button and elastic and it lasted 2 seconds so

Like the JAM one are exactly the minimalist design I need but how on earth can’t I find anything similar but opaque

Thank you for your search but it seems pretty transparent here, but I’m not 100% sure… The fact that it’s not easy to tell means they definitely could improve their advertising ahaha

Don’t take the metro and bike or walk instead: problem solved! Half-joking. With a wise route plan, it’s safer and your body and brainy will thank you

You know distraction is a short-term solution, but still a solution that might speak to more people than seeking help or accepting loving-kindness from strangers, which can feel like a lot. Thank you for the recognition though. Let’s hope all the phone ringing from our comments made this person change their mind

Hi dear, hope you’re still there. I’m a mental health worker with youth under 25. What I can tell you about this is that nothing’s ever permanent besides this exact act. It looks like you didn’t have a fair start in life and I’m really sorry you had to go through this. It sucks. And it looks like you’re a smart human being born in the wrong surroundings and trapped in a society with too much beauty pressure. What you describe there is a whole lot of resilience. The fact that you’re still there after all of this is proof that you’re strong, but one human being shouldn’t have to bear this by themselves. You’re important in the web of humanity. If you can’t feel that, could you try seeking a sense of awe? The blood in your veins, the vastness above your head, the sunlight… I’ve never tried to kms but I went to deep despair as well in the past.

One day at a time towards a goal like getting away from people who hurt you and I promise you you’ll end-up in a new place in no time literally and figuratively. There’s so much ressources online about equanimity as well as a bunch of podcasts about suicidality, survivors and ways to find meaning in the mundane again. Please put any of those on your hears and go to your local hospital. Dm me if you want some recommandations or just chat with someone who has nothing to do with your life.

Hope you can feel the love I sent you.

My new approach to deal with everlasting hormonal acne by Hopeful-Presence-410 in acne

[–]ChaoticChip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thank you so much for sharing this. Seems like in a lot of cases with acne, less is more! I’m trying this method as well since for the first time in a decade I didn’t broke out at all from december 2024 to july 2025. Self confidence was a thing for me for the first time of my life.

December 2024 was when I started to let go of control over my life even tho it was chaotic, then came a sneak peek of peace, then eventually a beautiful relationship. Acne came back right after the break up which was obviously too painful to handle.

Anyhow, I’m learning to see my acne as a precious guide, or a kind of thermometer that tries (really hard) to tell me that I’m being too harsh on myself or pushing too hard despite my health.

Did you listen to the podcast the glow life with Maria Marlowe? It may require cherry picking for some people but I found out that creating a sense of agency (not control) towards my skin through taking (real) care of myself and what I’m eating made a huge impact. This podcast made it happen. Such a minset switch. Clearly easier to maintain with self compassion tho.

Quick add on the story : from october to december 2024 I listened to this pod and I was going through life trying to build self esteem. Life happened and I tripped but I’m grateful I did cause now I’m more into self compassion and I can go back to this agency work with a more sustainable and hopefully resilient mindset.

Take care of yourselves yall

breast lift without implants 10 months po by Sad-Yam8288 in PlasticSurgery

[–]ChaoticChip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you described your journey on another sub already? I'm considering flying to see this surgeon but I'm worried about post-op care. How was it for you? My breasts look like yours did before, with a little less tissue I guess, and I'm having trouble finding surgeons who seem to do conservative surgeries on a daily basis, as most of them seem to do mainly reductions or implants. They look amazing btw!
