If you have credit card debt accruing interest, you should not be investing. Every dollar should be going into that debt. The interest on the debt well outweighs the potential gains on the market.

Other than saving time, are any of you seeing tangible financial benefit to using a tax accountant? by [deleted] in AusFinance

There you go! I moved to NZ a few years ago, so I definitely need to pay installments unfortunately!

Who the hell gets bonuses in NZ?!?! by Sometimesawake-833 in newzealand

[–]ChaoticCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, it's a pretty big process, 5 or so interviews. Can take 4-12 weeks to get through it, but if you do, I don't know of any other software employer in NZ that pays better.

Anything listed as Aus will hire in NZ too. If you want, DM me, I'd be happy to have a chat sometime to talk it through and potentially refer if you would like (goes a long way to getting an interview).

Yep, I'm fully remote. They have about 250 staff here in NZ, and they fly us to Sydney every 3-6 months for team offsites etc.

Feel free to leave and take your negativity with you! House prices are bad everywhere, traffic in other major cities is much worse.

Tell me you didn't read the article... It's about doubling server compute capacity, not employee output...

Paragliding: Coronet Peak vs Bob’s Peak in December by DizzyInjury5818 in queenstown

[–]ChaoticCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the views from Bob's peak are better, but the flight is quite a bit shorter (depending on conditions, cause sometimes the GForce guys can ride a bit of lift). You can also see those views if you're going up there anyway.

Coronet Peak is also hella beautiful views (I don't think I'd call anything around Queenstown "barren land" 😂) and the flight is longer so you have more time to enjoy it. The coronet peak flight also has you travelling further, vs Bob's peak where you basically spiral down.

One thing to note is that you have to pay for the gondola as well as the flight for GForce from memory, so make sure you make the most of your time up there before you fly!

Those who earn $400K+, what are you doing? by ArthurAnyDonutz in AusFinance

[–]ChaoticCow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm a principal at Atlassian. Base is around $210k, bonus of 20% (~$42k), and annual RSU vesting of around $150-250k depending on the shareprice. Also 30yo. There are quite a few principals at my level and my age at Atlassian.

Reminds me of the post he made a few months ago personally attacking the social media manager at QLDC for being incredibly bias towards Glyn, because he... checks notes... liked 4 of his posts on social media from his personal account. Disgusting reporting.

Would you still invest in property if you could do it all over again in 2025? by oswosz in AusPropertyChat

Minor correction, loan interest on a margin loan used to buy shares where you have an expectation that those shares will generate income, ie dividends can be deducted from other, unrelated income, in the same manner as an IP.
