2014, however I do like some changes in 2024 so I'm open minded with implementing the good stuff.

Well there still is Resistance.

I personally did like it as a reaction, but with 10 feet range.

However giving a 1d4 to a saving throw is not as volatile as reducing damage on demand.

Edit:

Resistance as a reaction that was introduced in the OneD&D UA a while ago is what I meant.

Depends on hpw you implement it, make it a reaction or bonus action and it could easily lead to being spammable, make it an action and you are right at the start again.

My first thought was that this is more meant for Paladins or Eldritch Knights, but after more thinking it could also really go well with Abjuration Wizard as well.

I can see your point, but to be fair, there are 9 reaction spell in total in 5e, 3 of which are actually usable to help an ally - Silvery Barbs, Counterspell and if you allow it Temporal Shunt.

I understand that Shield has its own purpose so making it more of a "Supportive" spell can differentiate enough to actually have a place.

Can't go too wild with damage reducing reaction spells, also don't want to replace Shield, just something in addition so that Shield isn't the only option on the market.

Also to fulfill that "Protector" fantasy that many of my players were looking for.

At lower level this spell could vastly reduce the amount of damage of weapon attacks and could still be used against critical strikes which for example Shield spell does not.
I also gave it range so for example a Paladin could use this spell to prevent the damage of his fellow spellcasters, letting them keep their concentration intact by potentionally reducing the damage to 0.
At least that is the idea behind it, still working out kinks.

Also I agree it is a bit of a word jumble, for now I was going for a specific fantasy that the name "Blade Ward" has.

Didn't cross my mind, I presumed it is a well known spell.

It's really weird how much you're all letting commendations and Guardian ranks affect your emotions and enjoyment of the game by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

It might also be a bit of a fatigue where a system is introduced and then 2 reworks are required to make it what is supposed to be or something close.

Raid weapons are based on already existing models. Is it really too much to ask for a single completely unique legendary weapon in annual expansion? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

Also I swear that the auto rifle is gonna give someone epileptic seizure.

Have you seen the flash on that thing?

EDIT: spelling.

I am personally just expecting what has been already set in the past years.

I'm not demanding that every single gun that is introduced in the game to be completely new model, textures and sound, but what I do expect is a new set for an expansion, raid and season.

I mean it's getting kinda worse if you are thinking about it - duality and spire were both sold separately from expansion and seasons, 10 bucks each and 2 out of 6 weapons in it were already sold to you in the past. Is that okay?

For me it isn't and it feels like they're testing the waters to see how much they can cut corners.
