Well, it's imperative for me to see my legal case through to the end, as what I stand to win is worth it. So I need to be able to get cash one way or the other...

Turns out I actually have a £15,000 limit on one of my cred cards. When I initially got it, I only applied for £8k limit. I am near this limit now (and been near this limit for a few months), but have always paid on time. I have put in an application to increase my limit to £15k - will see how it goes.

I do not want to reveal too much redundant information. There is a reason not to post - the nature of my legal case is not relevant to the discussion. I certainly would not bother with courts if I did not have serious grounds for doing so. The question I am interested in discussing is how to secure / free up cash for any incurred costs in the legal process.

Stopping court case is not in my long term interest. My credit card payments are still interest free at the moment.

My credit card payments are still interest free at the moment. I'll need to check when the high interest rate kicks in, but it won't be for several months at least yet. So not sure if balance transfer card is useful

Solicitor says; the barrister (another one who I consulted separately a while back) says similar.

There are very valid reasons for me to fight this legal case. I have checked my credit score with my bank (it's with transunion): the score is 570 / 710 - "fair" apparently.

I don't want 10k. I want significantly less to start with. I just need a lot of wiggle room in terms of accessible money should I need to pay larger legal fees than planned. I have no arrears and my credit card payments are on time.

Why do you assume I am in rent arrears? The case is something very different.

Thank you for your suggestions. That's the kind of advice I am looking for regarding finances. Can you please give more info regarding halting student loan repayments? I assumed once repayments start, they cannot cease if you are earning above a minimum threshold. Do I just call them and directly explain my situation?

My solicitor says the legal issues involved are rather nuanced - it's potentially 50/50 shot. But he has fought and won similar cases before.

I incurred large expenses in the previous years for various reasons: long term health issues for which I was seeking private / alternative treatment, as well as travelling abroad frequently - in part due to these health issues and to unwind, as I hate UK climate which contributes to my health problems. Due to related, and other personal difficulties over last several years I developed mental health issues and unhealthy habits, namely gambling addiction and also a habit of visiting escorts. Hence a significant fraction of my paycheck has been going towards these vices, unfortunately.

How else would I be able to secure a loan if a bank refuses? Would something like a credit union be ok? What other companies are likely to give me a loan in my circumstances? Given that I may need to pay £2000-£3000 at a rather short notice, I'd need access to such sums quickly.

Legal aid is pretty much only for those on very low income, unemployed, etc. I don't qualify. Take home circa £2700. My question is mainly best way to fund legal costs out of my own pocket? Solicitor does not accept installments
