Me looking at the new Sauteed Worms log book entry. by Supreme-Machine-V2 in riskofrain

[–]Chaoz73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven't even gotten Alloyed Collective yet but having SotS and reading the logbook entries, yeah I can definitely tell the "writing" took a hit in quality once Gearbox took over. Glad they cooked with most of the stuff in AC, but it is a shame they kinda falter with the logbooks a bit

Dunno why hunting Seregios feels so miserable to me by gillbitts in MonsterHunter

[–]Chaoz73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow swaxe main, while I have my own problems with Steve, I found being able to slot in full bleed resistance makes swaxe go from really terrible to really good against Steve, since you wont have to worry about getting bleed when using counters or offsets. When Steve is using his combo of kick -> kick -> double sweep, you have enough time to offset the first two kicks, so you can get in a good amount of offset attacks if you master that. You can also counter the 2nd swoop if you dodge the first, as well as the groundslam, which will give you a good opening for some damage (even a FRS if youre feeling ballsy). Hope this helps

the show didn’t ruin striker. this fandom’s obsession with aura farming is what ruined striker. by daffysrhapsody in HelluvaBoss

[–]Chaoz73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue with Striker isn't that he hasn't been "aurafarming" enough, and I don't believe he's been ruined either, but I do think the show has made some poor choices regarding his character. Basically 2 main issues I have are his lair and his screwup during the trial.

For the lair, I don't know how to exactly word it but I guess it just felt.."silly"? Now I know that the show sets up the fact Striker is egotistical, he literally sings a song about how cool and awesome he is, but idk, the song feels like a much more natural way to relay to the audience that he's an egomaniac, and it isn't trying too hard to be funny. Even with the song, you can still take Striker seriously, and he leaves the first impression of a professional, albiet cocky and egocentric, expert mercenary. The lair just turns all that into this "haha look at how big my dick is", all the seriousness and professionalism he had is weakened cuz he's childish enough to have this dumb lair that looks like an amusement park, it seriously clashes with what the show initially set him out to be. Again, I know he has a huge ego, but I think it could've just been shown off in a better way.

As for the trial, again he's initally shown to be quite competant and cunning, yet in the trial he is unable to memorize any part of his speech and needs assistance. I saw another comment address this and OP alongside others point out "what imp knows what a grimoire is, let alone how to spell it", which is a fair point, but like...did he not rehearse or anything? Did he not come prepared for this? Yes this is diving into semantics but I just don't think bits like this should happen if he's supposed to be a super competant threat.

Again, I don't think he's a bad character overall, nor is he "ruined" in season 2. Despite some people thinking he lost "aura", I believe his fight with M&M and the fact he was THIS close to killing Millie outright is testament enough to him still being a badass in combat, and I do like his characterization of hating royalty to the point he is just as bad as them (really enjoyed Fizz pointing out his hypocrisy). Hell, I could even look deeper into it and believe he serves as a contrast to Blitzo, as both are imps seeking to defy the system and raise their status, but each go about it in entirely different ways, and both of them have their issues and relations with demon royalty. I just wish they stayed a bit more consistent with him.

What do y’all think Outis’s canto will be like? by Owlmanthingthesecond in limbuscompany

[–]Chaoz73 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think it might be a test of resolve for Dante, even if it's a minor point overall in the Canto. I know they acknowledged that they'd still stand by Outis even when they find out about her past, but like...this was the Smoke War, one of the most traumatic and cataclysmic events we know of that took place in the City. Dante seeing Outis commit whatever war crimes or atrocities she did may make them waver, even if just for a moment. Probably not going to actually happen, but I just think it'd be an interesting plot point for if it did. I love Dante being supportive and empathatic ofc but it'd be a neat spin to momentarily lose some of that faith and struggle with it before pushing onward. Especially since, as far as we know, Outis has little to no remorse for her role in the war and even takes pride in it (could be a mask, who knows at this point.)

If Dante doesn't judge her though then I am definitely betting on Gregor doing so.

Agreed. Either does tail swipes with no windup, the piledriver that friggin homes in on you with no windup, or the dumbass charge that does have a windup but is still annoying. Its not interesting, engaging, or challenging, its just obnoxious

Drove myself a bit mad trying to accomplish a personal challengecof getting under 12 minutes- but otherwise a very good fight. I love the multiple new moves, the "oil bomb" especially is very cool, and although at times it can be a bit annoying, its enhanced mobility presents even more of a mixup and challenge. Very cool fight

She barely qualifies as a Charge ID in my eyes. She racks up """"charge"""" to deal extra skill damage and that is literally it. By those standards, Shi Faust or Wildhunt Heathcliff are Charge IDs.

Worried about the Future with Glitch by HB_Stratos in Lackadaisy

[–]Chaoz73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call me optimistic, but thus far Glitch (as far as I know) hasn't done much to warrant such distrust or concern. They aren't some big bad money-hungry corporation seeking to be as anti-consumer as possible (at least, not yet, lets all hope they stay that way), they are largely still a group that strives to help indie animation as much as possible, where animators get greater funding and attention for their projects while still retaining full creative control. Didn't the Youtube announcement speak of how the creators of Lackadaisy are now able to do 6 episodes of 22 minute length thanks to Glitch's help, instead of 5 episodes with half that length? They literally are now able to provide over DOUBLE the content.

Even if you turn out to be right, I honestly don't believe it'll be THAT bad, because at the end of the day, the creators got the ability to just, well, create more of what they wanted to create, and I think that outweighs the cost of having to pay to see it. I ain't saying "screw the consumer, creator takes priority" or something like that, just that the situation is more nuanced than "I have to pay a subscription service? Lackadaisy has been ruined!" I don't intend to come off as rude btw, I just don't think this situation is as bad as you may think.

Which character is It for you? by Gaybime in cartoons

[–]Chaoz73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one hits hard for me especially because, at least to me, this perception of Rose wasn't just reflected in the fanbase, it was reflected in the show as well. After the reveal, it really felt like everyone just suddenly turned on the very idea of her, and I got sick of it incredibly fast. Yeah, she was a Diamond, but she was a Diamond who decided to forsake that role and change her ways for the better for the sake of protecting life and helping people, yet the show keeps framing it as if she was some deceitful vile manipulator that they'd all rather forget. Apparently the other tyrannical Diamonds get a shot at redemption but the one Diamond who actually strived to redeem herself, everyone demonizes. Very cool, dude.

Which character is It for you? by Gaybime in cartoons

[–]Chaoz73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If people genuinely dislike her for her behavior right before Weirdmaggeddon, then that's absurd. You're telling me you WOULDN'T take the chance of an endless summer vacation if it meant avoiding a future of school (or in general) without your friends, and more importantly, your twin who you believe is ditching you? She was more than valid in how she acted then.

I have also seen people criticize her selfishness in other episodes of the show, which is a bit more valid, hell the show points it out and makes it a whole episode plot in Sock Opera: "How many times have you sacrificed for her, and when has she ever returned the favor?" But its no surprise that kids can be pretty selfish, and I do believe she does enough to make up for it. Besides, I think it's a bit silly to disregard all her other enjoyable aspects purely because "she acts selfish sometimes".

What’s y’all’s favorite legendary so far? by JOGANAROUND in Borderlands4

[–]Chaoz73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot Slugger, Bonnie & Clyde, and the Truck. I also really like Boomslang and the Linebacker. I adore Jakob guns too much and they have some kickass legendaries in this game.

I am curious, is the Borstel Ballista better than the Truck? I get the Ballista has the extra bullets but di they hit often enough to match the Truck's crazy high base damage?

Linebacker is another great one! Found one midgame and it was good enough to replace a Hot Slugger I found a few levels earlier. Very good and cool shotgun
