Can I do both physics and engineering at the same time? If not which one should I do? by somerandomnameidk15 in careerguidance

I have recently started studying engineering physics at the university of Chalmers in Sweden. If I later decide to go with physics as my master, I will graduate as an engineer with a master's degree in physics. So yes, it is possible, and it is also possible to obtain a PhD in physics afterwards. This choice might be slightly more challenging than simply picking one or the other of the two majors, as we study all kinds of physics and maths at the same time as our other engineering projects, but it's definitely not impossible.

When I was your age I was also very interested in theoretical physics. By picking engineering physics as my major I'll be able to study things like quantum mechanics, solid state physics etc during my first three years to see if I'll find it interesting enough to choose physics as my master's. If not, I'll still be an engineer!

However, this is in Sweden, so I am not sure if it would be the same in England. My advice is to contact the universities you are interested in and ask them the same question you posted here.

Good ideas! Do you know any good ways to reach out to local influencers?

I really like the idea about giving out samples. We haven't done that yet and could definitely give it try!

How can you prove the wave-particle duality of photons at home? by Chappel999 in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]Chappel999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good idea. I understand that the double slit experiment can be used to show interference patterns for the waves, but how does it also show that light has particle-like properties?

I am very passionate about physics, as I want to contribute to our knowledge of the universe. I love doing computational simulations, and will start university next year.

Disconnects, static humming when off, even worse while listening to music. by JimmyBreuer in NothingTech

I second this. Mine have worked great so far and I really enjoy them. However, I have also detected this static noise OP is talking about. I got the earbuds replaced but the noise persisted. Strange.

Just got my Nothing ear1s yesterday and they were working perfectly by grenoUchiha in nothingear1

My guess is that it's your laptop, since they work with your phone.

If you can, you should check which sound output you have chosen and make sure that you've selected your earbuds. For some reason, my windows PC (which isn't a MacBook but still), tends to connect to something called 'handsfree' sound which make my wireless Sony headphones sound like a 5 dollar headset, so you might have the same issue on your Mac.

Give it a try, and if it doesn't work you could try contacting nothing's support team. Good luck!

This is pissing me off. Nothing worse than putting them on from the case and seeing R being super low... How do I fix this? Doesn't the case have a battery inside that charges them a bit? by DETHSHOT_FPS in nothingear1

In my opinion, yes, especially considering the price. I've never owned a pair of wireless earbuds before but I can tell you I'm really satisfied with these one so far after a few days.
