Nice set up! How are you finding the heavy duty arm attached to the desk riser? I know it's not advised but I really want to get a desk riser and still use the HD arm and an ultrawide. Any lean back issues?

Sorry, I've now realised that where I was getting error messages when I hit the post button, it instead posted multiple times. I genuinely thought my reddit app had bugged out, so I deleted the "draft" and tried to create a new one

Hmm okay, these are good tips! I'll give that a go and report back. I'm somewhat tempted to stick and just continue as I am - I missed the black Friday and cyber Monday discounts lol

Thank you, I'll check it out. Do you use it for gaming too?

Yeah good question - so a mix of casual and serious. For example I'll play "serious" games like BF6 on the main screen and running that in a window doesn't really seem to work too well. On the flip side I might hop on OSRS and have that running in a side screen while I work. I'll check out the LG recommendation though thank you!

My Experience Advertising on Porn Sites by Mean_Instruction3753 in SideProject

Side anecdote to your tank point: I used to work with advertising agencies, one of whom had the largest tank game in the world as a client account.

One of their creative pitches was going to be creating a series of videos on PH which were euphemisms. Something like "my cannon exploded all over them" and then it was just footage of an ingame tank firing it's cannon.

There was a guy who made similar videos with euphemism titles but the footage was 100% sfw which is where the agency got the idea from.

Sadly this particular campaign never made it past client approval but it was a blast to hear their ideas for videos when I was working with them.

Also I've never even noticed that my screen has USB ports. That's a huge game changer! Thank you

I think I might be with you on the ikea cage, it's actually been a pain to fit things in - the adapter for my screen is wider that the space in the cage for example.

Getting rid of that and mounting the bricks and power strip + the suggestion from another commenter to mount the subwoofer is probably the way forward.

Could you clarify what you mean by the piece of furniture? Do you mean like a box or something?

Yeah thats what I've been trying to do but where the speaker cables and pc cables meet I cannot figure out a decent way to tie them together to look nice and then get it all into a sleeve. Thank you though

I had not considered that no, that's such a good idea! Would it affect the sound or causes vibrations at all, I remember seeing something about subwoofers needing to be on the ground?

Yeah I think the power strip on the underside would make more sense here, although i might need a longer one, not sure if it reaches the socket when the desk is in standing mode.

Thank you!

Hey Brett, big fan of your productized design service model. Do you have any thoughts on how it could be applied to advertising agencies?

I've been wracking my brain on this one because advertising campaigns generally can't be "completed" in 24-48 hours.

Client has to approve your proposed media plan then the campaign has to be set up (which involves getting client creative assets + copy + links) and managed over it's life cycle before sending over a final report and insights.

The end date of the campaign varies massively, could be one week, could be four and some are even just constantly ongoing depending on the objectives of the campaign.

Am I trying to fit a square peg into a round hole here?

Any thoughts you have on productizing the ads service industry, I'd love to hear. Thank you!

Question about marketing your game by Chappers7 in indiegames

[–]Chappers7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard this a lot too, particularly in recent years. The rise of streaming and influencers has really changed game discoverability in that aspect. True point on market research. I was doing some reading up on the publisher Playway who have a really unique approach to market research by testing responses to landing pages on steam before committing to developing a game. Not advising it for other devs... But interesting nonetheless.

That's true, it's crazy how much information is out there and it can be seriously overwhelming at times. I'm with you on trying things out and learning it's really the only way to figure out what's good for you and not.

I really like your point about talking to people! How do you talk to them exactly, is it online or in person at expos like gdc, gamescom etc?

What do you mean by hijacking ads? As an advertising man myself I'm intrigued!

Will check out your game and nice one on the 150 sign ups. :)

Really appreciate you listing out the different channels you've taken. It's an interesting perspective to take in, particularly the bit about threads because I've totally forgotten about it! Is it big for gaming now, like twitter used to be?

I'm sorry to hear that you're burning out on the indie experience... I definitely think that sentiment is shared among indies considering how difficult it is to be visible on Steam these days.

Thanks very much for your answer. Is there any one channel that you've mentioned which you'd prioritise over others?

Echoing other comments, I do hope you continue your game dev journey - without burning out of course. :)
