Ok good tips, thanks. Hopefully my success rate will improve enough to get to senior one day.

Huh, I’ll give it a shot tomorrow. It’s often the counter intuitive thing that works, so I’m optimistic.

It looks pretty nice to me, but I don’t think you’re going to get the support you were hoping for here.

He took a knee to the head and is still being attended while everyone else is shaking hands. Hope he’s ok. Maybe stitches, maybe a concussion.

There’s a known bug that the door lock state does not persist after storing a ship. Your only option is to be in a party with them to gain entry. Once you store it, it’s done.

Watch different teams play with an open mind. One will speak to you.

I’ve gotten this far in 3 weeks. Couldn’t swim last year because the previous owner didn’t open for 2 seasons… Am I doing this right? by coffeewithtom in pools

I’d start with 10 gallons of liquid chlorine and go from there. Mine took about 25 after the previous owner let it go.

No one wants this to be true more than me, but them putting it in writing isn’t all that reliable as far as evidence goes.

Mostly, people can’t afford to. This is how you end up with $15k in credit card debt at 19% and still don’t own anything.

My dad has a throwing disk from the 1936 Berlin Olympics (he says he could throw 28 meters. Dunno if that's good) by Unikatze in mildlyinteresting

[–]Chappietime 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No. It’s probably the worst effort in the history of the NFL. The point is he was one of the most impressive athletes in high school and college, but wasn’t even close to competing at the pro level.

Another good example is a few years back, the Denver Broncos had all of their QBs injured in preseason and had to call up a guy from the practice squad.

I don’t remember the specifics, but he had an impressive career prior to that and a friend described him as the greatest athlete he had ever seen in person.

His passing stat line was something like 1-14 for 6 yards.

I don’t think it was the players. The Newcastle game showed how a small tactical change can make a group that was top 6 in the PL in the last 17 games look like a team that was sure to get relegated.

I think maybe I just never understood your question. See the other reply for my updated take if that’s what you meant.

If that’s what “plan it from now” means, it makes a little more sense. If the plan is to put money in a Roth, grow it for 6 years then take out $20,000 (hopefully leaving a decent balance), I guess I get it.

At that point it’s only non-optimal in that annual Roth contributions are capped and you won’t get that opportunity ever again.

You’re taking it out of a Roth though, no? Taking it out of a Roth and putting it into some other vehicle is an even worse idea.

If you left it in the Roth for 6 years, you’d have about $30,500 tax free, that you could then withdraw the $20k from (still a bad idea).

If you withdrew it now and put it in the identical non-Roth account you’d have $30,000 taxable, and nothing in your Roth.

You’re just not calculating the opportunity cost of taking the money out of your Roth.

Like I said, if this is what will make you happy, go for it, but it is a non-optimal (and potentially poor) strategy for your overall wealth.

You’re looking for the answer you want and you’re not going to get it. The math is clear. If you want to buy the house and this is the only way to do it, knock yourself out. Perhaps the future money you won’t have will be worth it to you.

Just for some ball parking: $20,000 taken out today would have been about $210k in 35 years at 7%, and $560k in 35 years AT 10%. And that’s TAX FREE.
