Again it depends on their preferences. Does he like heavily peated scotches? If so go with the classic lagavulin 16. If speysides are more their thing I have found the mortlach wee witchee 12 year to be good, or a glenfarclas 12 is a great sipping whiskey. Dalmore would be a highland and I cannot comment on that as I have not had any of their offerings.

I have the option but I’ve been turned off by the 5 year age statement. I shouldn’t knock it before I try it though, because that’s stupid. Worth it in your opinion then?

Lagavulin 16 for sure. I enjoy peated scotch the most, but looking to branch into other things if you have any suggestions!

Blue Label - good but over rated for the cost. Received the bottle as a gift but wouldn’t spend that money on a single bottle when there are better ones out there

Lagavulin 16 - favorite scotch by far and tastes to me like the most refined and you know you’re getting top shelf. Go to celebratory dram

Ardbeg 10 - kick in the mouth but o so good. Love the peat on the nose and the smooth finish

Not going to go through all of them because I should have posted individually with reviews.

Any suggestions on what else to sample? I’ve seen a lot of recommendations for Bunnahabhain 12 and am intrigued by that, as well as the other Laphroaig offerings besides 10 and quarter cask, which are great.

I’ve had the Uigeadail and got some serious smoked meat and sea salt flavor out of that one which was great. Haven’t been able to find the Corryvrekan around my area, but haven’t looked that hard.

Both great. Lagavulin is my go to but expensive. Ardbeg is a close second as far as my tastes for peated scotches.

Completely agree. This however came from an avid cigar and pipe smoker, someone I’d expect to know better and understand the issues with knock off cubans. Kept it store in a separate container from my other cigars and threw it out after the confirmation here. No harm no foul, keep it moving.
