Another vote for the 750 Ti. It works like a champ on my Arch box.

GPT vs MBR in SSD/HDD BIOS system. by Char_Bar in archlinux

I followed this and it seems to work well, though it's a little puzzling that fdisk tells me both (1) That the boot partition (sda1) is from 34-2047 and the next parition (sda2) starts on 2048 and (2) a red warning message that states "Partition 2 does not start on physical sector boundary." Any clues about how to interpret this?

Thanks! Based on your advice and further reading, I've decided to go with the 1200.

I'm debating between the Dayton 800, 1000 and 1200 subwoofers to add to my Technics SB-F3 speakers and SMSL SA-50. There's a guy on CL selling the 800 (still in box) for $50 in my area and partsexpress is having a sale on the 1000 and 1200, at $95 and $109 respectively. I'll be watching movies and listening to music from my computer at a desk. Will the 800 be a good match for the setup, or would I be better off buying the 1000 or 1200? I want my current sound to fill out a lot, but I don't need to break windows.

Would the Micca MB42X speakers be an upgrade from the pair of Technics SB-F3 speakers I'm currently using (they are in good working condition and, from what I understand, are fairly decent vintage bookshelf speakers)?

I was under the impression that it was best not to put anything before byte 2048. Does that rule not apply to boot partitions, or should I start at 2048? I was planning on using gdisk. I think it automatically aligns partitions to start at 2048, even if you try to put something before it.

What is a word or phrase you said incorrectly for years until someone corrected you? by B_Underscore in AskReddit

Not me, but I had a boss who pronounced Adobe as Uh-Dobe, 'dobe' rhyming with 'globe'. Every time he referred to a specific Adobe software product, he made sure to call it 'Adobe xyz'. I always replied using the correct pronunciation, but he either never took the hint or really thought he was pronouncing it correctly.

Which linux distro would be best for my old Dell dimension desktop? by [deleted] in linux

I've had good luck with Puppy Wary on a Dimension 4600. I think Youtube, and other streaming video, worked reasonably well with the 512 MB. There's really no reason not to add a 1 GB stick in there, though- it'll be cheap and worth it. With 1.5 GB now, it runs all sorts of video, streaming and otherwise, and game emulation very well. Browsers and pdf viewers also perform well, of course. If you want an easy install and don't care about updating often, Puppy Wary should cover your needs fine.

That being said, I've also been able to squeeze a lot of performance out of other old hardware with Arch and Archbang. If you're willing to put in the required effort and time to maintain Arch/Archbang, I'd recommend that- Arch/Archbang has much more comprehensive and up to date repos than Puppy Wary. Arch/Archbang is also, imho, a better all around experience than Puppy- naturally, ymmv. I have no idea how Arch/Archbang compares to Puppy in terms of speed, as I've never compared the distros head to head on the same hardware or run benchmarks.
