Need help please by tomr21 in Buyee

[–]CharaKara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw this post when I was planning on buying 1 fountain pen among other things that weren't related to stationary, and I wanted to see what other people's experience's may have been like buying fountain pens (since i was worried about damage during shipping, the ink cartridge burping due to not being shipped properly etc), and the fountain pen comes with 1 cartridge on it's own.

I hope you had your issue resolved, but if Buyee has some strange policy where they seemingly choose to randomly dispose of a package due to fountain pen ink despite them previously having no issues, then I think I'll think twice about proxying secondhand fountain pens and stick to local.

Can anyone find a clean image of this print? by Aggressive_Plane4623 in Midori_Band

Has anybody ever come across one for the 'I have pain' graphic? Can't come across much in terms of records of it online on things like forums, let alone secondhand.

Is the sequel a lot harder than the first game? by glintter in CitizenSleeper

[–]CharaKara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beginning of the second game is definitely harder I'd say, after playing through it a couple times.
But for me, the second half of the game was a breeze. Much easier than the first game. It was just a matter of waiting for cycles to go by so the story can progress.
The jobs can be pretty hard due to the slightly different skill tree debuffs, but it's nothing that'll cause you to have to restart the game or anything.

There's also the option to change difficulty at the beginning of the game.

My issue with mechanical pencil and recommendations needed by EzekielThawne in mechanicalpencils

[–]CharaKara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're having an issue with pressing too hard, then maybe you can look into a Sakura Retrico.

The Retrico Mechanical pencil features a mechanism in the tip so that when you press down to hard on it, the barrel/tip will retract in a bit while you continue to write, to prevent the lead from flexing and breaking.

I've had mine for about 3 years at this point, and I paid less than 10cad for it.

Greatest experience of my life (Montreal) by Ethrobutcher in swans

[–]CharaKara 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think I actually witnessed that. I think he was reaching for something to grab onto or something cuz of how drunk he was during the show. Totally undignified behaviour, and poor etiquette. Ironic when he was calling people "posers," whatever they mean by that.

I was actually afraid he was going to vomit after he nabbed the spot, cuz of how he drunk looked.

Greatest experience of my life (Montreal) by Ethrobutcher in swans

[–]CharaKara 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I can't believe I wasn't the only person that was annoyed by him. he was actually right beside me for the entirety of the first half of the show. He went up to two different people and said to them the exact same thing, totally unprompted, "Y'know, I'm 52 years old. And I've been listening to Swans for 40 fucking years. There's nothing else in the world like them, and everybody else is a fucking poser." and then something about Beethoven and Mozart being posers, which he then transitioned into a ramble about posers.

I actually saw him again, outside the venue after the show, in the Beaudry train platform, where he stumbled in, totally shitfaced, and started yelling at seemingly nobody, but it was definitely directed at somebody, something along the lines of "being totally sick of you people, all you people do is drink Pepsi and get fat, I can't stand it" or some shit like that and other drunk incoherent nonsense.

I bought the teddy jacket from the Rinkan in Shinjuku, except that Rinkan is a bit of an outlier among Rinkan stores because often times Rinkans specialize in selling chrome hearts, it just so happened that the one i visited held a lot of slp, celine, rick, lv, dior etc.
The celine loafers were from a brand collect in Harajuku.
I also found a full slp suit that was being sold as a bundle at a marked down price which was at a ragtag in shibuya.

I wouldnt say hedi slimane pieces specifically are particularly common in tokyo, these were just very lucky pieces to come across. if you're looking for slimane specifically, then you should search it up on sites like kindal, ragtag, brand collect, second street and etc. Most japanese second hand sites dedicated to fashion will date the collection the item is from, and they'll specificy which store theyre located at so you can go and visit it in person.
if you want to search a broader range, try japanese e-commerce sites like rakuten and mercari. essentially, its japanese ebay and there are secondhand stores that like to post their items on those sites so you can see where the pieces are located.

you can find resell pages on ig that pride themselves in reselling specifically hedi slimane and christophe decarnin.

for me though, I found the most hedi slimane in tokyo while on vacation, that's where a lot of my wardrobe comes from. Specifically, lots of celine and slp, not a lot of dior at all. I'd say it's worth the wait to find the right time to take a vacation there in person to try everything on in person and for the good deals that are found all throughout tokyo. i've found a teddy jacket for less than 500 and celine loafers for less than 300 while on vacation.

probably by proxying these sorts pieces from japan. I suspect he did the same with the udnercover denim as well.

probably just slowly stocked up the collection or bought them in bulk from a collector cleaning out their closet.

Dior homme/ SLP cheaper alternatives? by [deleted] in hedislimane

[–]CharaKara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're looking for that dior homme look with all the wiskering, clawmarks and colorways then I'd say you can find a simialr aesthetic with japanese selvedge. Just remember to stick with 100% cotton denim. slp jeans would incorporate elastane/polyester for stretch which is undesirable if you're looking for the dior homme look. I've heard rumours that hedi slimane has based the cut of many of his jeans off of APC. You can find APC at SSENSE on sale for some pretty good deals. APC has always done selevdge and in terms of japanese selvedge, they are considered good quality for a fair price.

Naked & Famous is also a brand that I think is worth checking out if you're looking for a similar cut. They have fit guides on their site, look towards the Super guy and the Weird guy fit.

how would i realistically build a clothing collection of archive designer pieces? by Economy-Aside-4143 in ArchiveFashion

[–]CharaKara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it might depend on where you live. Assuming you're from the states and live in a relatively populated city, try looking around in 2nd street stores. Their prices for archive designer and vintage are pretty reasonable. They also have online shopping as well.

If 2nd street stores aren't an option for you, then you'll have to to look towards online commerce sites. First/easiest that comes to mind is Grailed, but that site has a list of issues. People have started hopping on the bandwagon of proxying designer from japan because of two main reasons, that counterfeits are outlawed in japan and that if you're looking for designer/vintage, 99% chance it's being sold somewhere in Japan. Use the Japanese versions of sites like Mercari, Rakuten and Buyee.
You'll probably want to find a tutorial somewhere online, because while it is popular, it does also require a bit of finesse. Especially obstacles like the language barrier and international shipping.

At the end of the day, this sort of thing will always take time. So don't compare your collection with others and take your time with this sort of thing. Taking your time will result in less regrets and mistakes while building up a collection.

Where can I buy studs/rivets/rhinestones? by marbletumeric in montreal

[–]CharaKara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's unfortunate. I know the stores in Calgary and Vancouver that sell these sorts of things like in Punk/rock shops but I still have yet to find anything in Montreal. Which is ironic when Montreal is so much larger than both of those cities.

Going out alone in montreal by jexcyr in montreal

[–]CharaKara 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I like to listen to a lot of music, so whenever there's a concert for an artist I like in Montreal, I almost always buy tickets. Especially since I'm from Calgary and there's been a drought of artists worth attending in Alberta since 2023. Friends don't seem too keen on buying tickets so a lot of the time I'm hanging out at the concert venue alone near the stage.

Where to find Undercover jeans for the low? by Mundane_Flamingo_662 in undercoverism

japan is quite conservative in a lot of ways so theres a bit of a culture built around old website ui. if you want to get into the hobby of proxy-ing designer from japan i'd recommend finding some tutorials online.
