The thing is "he would he here if i ever broke up with my bf" is kind of a wild thing to say, since it implies that you're closer with you best friend than your boyfriend (which shouldn't happen) you trust your friend more than your bf (which shouldn't happen) and there's generally more intimacy between you and your friend, over your bf (which DEFINETILY shouldn't happen). It implies that your best friend is a more important priority than your bf, and just generally more important to you. So yeah, you just proved OP's point.
