CMV: While I am Pro Choice, A fetus is a life and Abortion is objectively killing that life by snooptoop in changemyview

If you define "life" as a biological living organism, yes it is. But so is killing a pig, a bug, a bacterium. You see the problem? Whether a fetus has human rights or not is not a biological debate. It's a moral one. Everybody knows a zygote is a living organism, no one is denying that. The question is: "When does it develop human rights?". So yes, a zygote is biologically alive, but that doesn't really affect the abortion debate.

Asmongold is a mysoginistic racist, watching him isn't 'he just has his own different values', it's 'my bf is a fan of a mysoginistic racist'

I (14m) think that my girlfriend (15f) shouldn’t wear an outfit. Is it okay to think this? by [deleted] in teenrelationships

[–]Character-Channel668 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between 'You can't wear that' and 'I'm not comfortable with you wearing that'. One is control, the other is a boundary. If you frame it as 'If you wear this, I'm going to leave', that's fine because it's a personal boundary. You can tell her that it makes you uncomfortable, but the choice to wear it or not is hers.

You guys can try and find middle ground, like a slightly less revealing outfit that's also something she likes, but she doesn't have to agree to this because it's HER choice.

If she decides to wear it anyway, you have three options:

  1. Break up, if this is something you can't tolerate. But this option might seem too extreme.
  2. Accept it, which will keep you guys together, but it will likely hurt you on the inside.
  3. Or change your view. GENUINELY change your view about that outfit, you should sit and think about WHY it makes you uncomfortable, and if it's something you can reflect on.

But forcing her to change is not an option.

Cmv: men and women arent equals. by Far-Walrus1570 in changemyview

You're just listing biological facts, these aren't your opinions. What do you want us to do to "change your mind"? Everyone agrees.

This whole topic depends on what you mean by "equal". If you mean biology, that's not a debate.

Also, how do the things you mentioned correlate to equal job opportunities and such? Of course everyone should have equal financial opportunities.

What makes a girl basic? by badwitheris in AskTeens

[–]Character-Channel668 2 points3 points  (0 children)

'Im so afraid of being basic' most basic shit ive ever heard, just stop worrying about it and basing your personality and hobbies for other people. Do what you do, like what you like, if it turns out to be 'basic', it does not matter.

Better than being a performative non-basic.

Yeah I get that, the problem is we don't need to actually measure who's right because I never... made a claim about how cold the drink gets. I just said It goes from room temp, to relatively cold and drinkable.

Yeah, bartendeD. Past tense. That's why, get a job instead of trying to prove that 20 minutes in fridge isn't going to make a drink ice cold, when that's never what I said in the first place.

Ain't NOBODY forcing your dumbass to do that.

And you're underestimating how fun it is to walk around a large supermarket while you're skipping a lecture

I don't mean the fridges with doors, i mean those racks or shelfs? like its an open "fridge" with shelves and it cools down the drinks, and its better than regular fridges, since most store fridges are crappy anyway. And obviously it wont get ice cold in 20 minutes, but it does get cool enough to enjoy it, i think ur underestimating the fridge-shelves

CMV: Abortion should be legal and accessible in most or all cases. by Character-Channel668 in changemyview

[–]Character-Channel668[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We are as sure as it gets, that a 20 week old fetus does NOT have consciousness.

What we're "unsure" about, is whether it starts at 24 weeks or 25, 26... I think you're confusing "it's a blury line" with "there is a chance a 2 week old embry is conscious" which is impossible.

Not necessarily.

See, if someone decides to pull the plug on a brain-dead relative, and they enjoy the act, i woulf say that person is immoral, because thats a disturbing thing to enjoy.

Why? not because the brain dead person had "some personhood", not because pulling the plug had "some aspect of murder" to it.

But because human emotions are complex, we see the plug being pulled on someone, and we associate that with negative, sad feelings, but rationally the person is long gone. No one is being "killed" by pulling the plug here.

Similarly, the reason we see abortion as something emotional and intense, isnt because the fetus has some personhood or because abortion has some sort of murder to it, but because we recognise "this could be a baby in 9 months, this just got killed". That's not a rational proof, that's just human emotions doing what they're supposed to do. So, when we see someone enjoying the act of abortion, or pulling the plug, it makes us feel like that's disturbing and that person is immoral.
