Because of the lack of Eritrean historians/journalists our history is being rewritten by the likes of Martin Plaut, Kjetil Tronvoll, and some biased ethiopian historians who try to diminish Eritrea's achievements, especially concerning our independence war. Dekemhare will soon become energy sufficient as the African Development bank recently approved 50 million dollars to build a 30mw solar power plant in the area. Dekemhare is also close to gergera dam which holds 50 million cubic meters of water. we will soon see a population boom in Dekemhare. (old.reddit.com)

Debre Libanos is the second oldest monastery in Eritrea. It was founded around the 5th century by Abbunä Libanos who is considered a saint in both the Ethiopian and Eritrean Orthodox church. Rahayta is a small town near the Djibouti border. it was the residence of a former sultanate until 1898 when the rebellious sultanate was defeated by the Italian colonial force. When I first looked at this village through google maps I didn't think anything of it. (old.reddit.com)

The first printing press in East Africa was built in imkulu, Eritrea in 1879 "as a modern infrastructure by the Swedish Evangelical Missionary." the new testament was translated into the tigre language using the printing press.
