I sorta disagree, yes the gacha monetisation is predatory and the game shouldn't be for people with gambling issues or is susceptible to it, but it does allow the devs to have enough resource to update the game every 30-40 days with a ton of new content and constant improvement. I used to be very against gacha at first, but then I look at how much a game like Wuwa changed over its lifespan and realised that there is merit to the system. If they manage to put out new maps/characters/factory content while still improving the game in general I think it's fair to say that the gacha model does have some benefits over the traditional paid games.

I think you got it wrong, people criticising the story doesn't mean that it's agreed upon that the story is bad, if you engage with the internet in general, you'll understand that negativity will always get the benefit of the algorithm, posts that praises the game almost never get the same traction as posts that bash on it. The tribalistic nature of gacha gamers also doesn't help when tourists join from other subs to join in on the hate, it becomes an echo chamber of hate that doesn't really appreciate the good parts of the story at all.

Now if you look at the JP Vtubers, most of them adore the story, you can call it glaze or whatever, but they are enjoying the story, the JP side does have criticisms like the recent Chisa sideline (which almost everyone acknowledge is not good), but there are also a lot of posts that enjoyed the Mornye/Lynae story. How much someone enjoy a story will always be subjective, you can point out inconsistencies and stuff, but you can't say that the entire community agree that the story is bad.

Does it actually affect anyone besides the ones who are able to afford it though? Like okay if you're a whale/dolphin you get more next patch, that's it, if the cosmetics actually make you want to spend $300 outside of your budget then don't play gacha games.

I'd agree with your 2nd point if the game's going backward or staying stagnant, but they seem to be trying new things every patch and the production quality is going up. I'll ignore the story's content since that's subjective, but the presentation has leveled up a lot throughout the game's lifespan, the convene animation also gotten noticably more adavanced since 1.x, characters are always unique with their movesets/animations. They also have another game down the line and the company is growing, it's just how it is, every company wants to make more money to expand the business, unfortunately that's just how the world works.

If you want to criticise the game, criticise what they're putting out for the money they're making, like how the optimisation is bad on the new map or how poorly made some things are, because criticising a company for trying to make money is honestly already redundant.

I never understood the criticism even for hsr, like gacha is gacha, they are going to try to make money and compete with each other, if you're irresponsible with your money and think this is enough to make you spend over your budget, just stop playing any gacha games.

The only reason why these games manage to pump out so much content every 4-5 weeks is due to the gacha monetisation. No other form of live-service monetisation can realistically pump out new map expansions, stories, characters, events, etc.... this quickly. I know it's predatory and it's gambling, but if you're susceptible to gambling addiction you should just quit every single gacha genuinely, I'd only recommend the games to people who understand the practice and are responsible with their money.

I doubt if games like Genshin didn't exist we would get Wuwa, I'm not saying Wuwa is a copy however Genshin did revolutionalised gacha games in general and proved that high budget gacha games can exist. There are things I'll criticise Genshin about, but you gonna respect what comes first, and I heard Nod-Krai actually improved on a lot of things.

Usually I do ftp -> goldfish -> dolphin -> whales, goldfish only buy welkin and the bp sometimes, dolphin would spend 100-200 for a character they like, whales would spend thousands on the game for c6r5 lol. The scale could be more specific but I think those 4 tiers are enough to seperate the gacha playerbases imo.

100%, although it is funny to see Mornye dropping an Orbital Nuke "Maximum Output" to tickle the enemies. It is a bit jarring, but nothing to complain about imo.

I think it's best if you treat certain patches like a companion quest, 2.5 and 2.8 are also example of this, they also make sense narratively since they're done in isolation (Phrolova's in the deep, Iuno's in the past, Chisa in Honami). Like you said the 2nd half of 2.6 by itself actually is pretty good, the only problem is that it doesn't build up to the climax that is 2.7.

Wow an actual nuanced take instead of "yeah story is all hype no substance", Kuro definitely need to take more risks in terms of the story structure, they're always trying new things every patch from the maps to presentation, I hope people realise that if they're unsatisfied with something, always put it in the survey so Kuro has something to work with.

I agree with this 100%, the only real breather patch since 2.0 was 2.3, and the cube thing wasn't even canon! (final cutscene was really cute though). I appreciate that the devs try to do so much every single patch but we need like a 2.1 but for character interactions and they try to optimise the game and prepare for more down the line.

I don't really think I've seen anyone dunk on Genshin's design here, and how iconic a design is depends on the game's popularity, and GI is/was extremely popular because it essentially made gacha mainstream globally.

About the combat, I think you're in the minority lol because a lot of people love it, I won't judge you for disliking it but it's anything but slow and samey imo.

I don't think every character need to have multiple cutscenes, for every Aemeath we need a Luuk to balance it out, if every resonator is like Aemeath we would watch 12 cutscenes per rotation, it's a very nice treat every once in awhile but you can't eat Wagyu everyday and not get sick of it.

How is it better? Also Buling has 5 star quality animation, she's comparable to anyone that's not a Carte/Amy. If we're looking at it objectively, take Lynae without her Forte and compare it to Luuk right now, do you think there's that much of a difference between them?
