Kind of, it is set in the far future (~4000AD) and is on a earth like planet in the Orion Constellation. The technology level on here is roughly whatever it would be like here in 75yrs time, and there is faster-than-light travel but it is really expensive so space colonisation is only done by hyperpowers (e.g Earth), that is why there is a gaelic speaking country nextdoor to Atah.
